Design Change Doesn't Work For Me

I've worn the Ghost shoe for several years, but something has changed in the structure. It seems to be cut a little higher, and is rubbing my ankle bone, which it never did before, and is uncomfortable. I hate to give it up, but it's not working well any more.

Hard Pass On Ghost 17s

I have loyally worn Brooks Ghosts for the last 12-13 years, and when I tried on the Ghost 17s a few weeks ago at my running store, I had to make a hard pass. While there has always been subtle differences in the shoe model each season, this year's shoe was just unacceptable for me. The difference in the fit and feel was instant and not good. My issues were the same as many of those reviewing the shoes before me. I immediately came home and bought up as many pairs of the 16s as I could to get me through the next year of running. Disappointed In The Changes

Brooks Ghost used to be the shoe I would recommend to anyone who wanted cushion and had plantar fasciitis issues but not now. For me 17s are the worst version of Ghost since 13s. Not sure what I will use these for but I won't be buying more if this is the new standard. The 12mm heel toe drop was great - why change it to now when that is one thing that sets these apart? If I wanted 10mm I wouldn't have so many pairs of Ghost sneakers. The design of the toe box doesn't look as good or feel as comfortable. I will read carefully before buying new versions in the future and am actively trying to find old styles to stock up on.
