Gloves were designed to protect the hands. Heck, even a pair of brown gardening glove would work here. My daughter has been playing softball for almost 10 years and we've gone through numerous pair. She convinced me to drop this type of coin with hope in increased longevity. If we make 3 years (without loosing them) we will break even. Fit and quality seems top notch. Its really too earlier to do a complete review here.
