I escalated my concern to brumate before posting a review to see if they would help. Unfortunately they told me it will leak regardless “ Additionally, since the straw top is removable, there is a small area where liquid can potentially leak if the cup is not locked and not kept upright.” It is really unfortunate you spend a lot of money on a cup for your kid, and ideally it should not leak. Totally understand leaking out of the straw in the unlocked position, however, it should not leak when the lid is on and tight out of the lid area when everything is secure when it’s unlocked, that’s a flaw. Reading brumates description they state “ Leap is built to handle everyday adventures.” Clearly the cup does not handle everyday adventures or it would not leak out of the main cup area. I’ve bought 3 and all three so this and all three parents I gave them to complained. Again, I totally understand leaking out of the state directly however the amount of water that escapes from the kid barely tilting to drink out of it should not happen. I’ve loved brumate since I discovered them years ago from tumblers to cab holders and they have lived up to their hype. I really hope they look into this flawed design because it needs work and engineering and their advertising for this needs to do better to prevent issues down the road.
