Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good hunting knife I bought this as a partner to the smaller version, the 120 I think. I haven't yet used this 119 but I can review based on the smaller version. And the reason I bought this is sometimes cutting up a hind quarter you just need a bigger knife. I think the steel hardness is pretty good but if you are butchering a deer keep your sharpener handy. Yes it will hold an edge but you can tell it dulls when continually hitting bone. As would any knife so I don't fault it much. Boning out a deer in the field would be no problem if you wanted to. Made in America which is big for me. Razor sharp out of the box. So the fact that it eventually dulls is expected and on the flip side it sharpens back up in just a second. I only gave 4 stars because of my experience with the 120 and I would assume would be the same with the 119 which actually costs less for a larger knife. All in all a great knife and a great value and I don't think you can go wrong with Buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One heck of a knife. Great design and great quality. I am very happy with this knife. Great edge on it and will serve me well for years to come. I can see where it would be slippery when the handle gets liquid on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Buck Knife Review Love the knife. Don't like the toxic chemical treatment on the leather sheath. The odor is pervasive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Buck 119 I bought this to replace one that I had lost. I bought one in the early eighties and left it behind on a camping trip a couple of years ago. This knife doesn't seem sharp as the first one I had. The handle has a couple of small dimples on each side of it, and the sheath has thinner leather at the top where the loop is for your belt. This is why I only gave it four stars. The knife is made in the U.S.A., but the sheath is made in Mexico. I like Buck knives a lot and own several, this is the first time I put a four star rating on one of there knives. I normally put a five star rating on the knives I have, and they are all made in the U.S.
