Product Information:

The product of rigorous testing and Tour validation, Callaway Mack Daddy 4 Wedges set a new performance standard. Versatile bounce/sole grind combinations, including the new X-Grind, enable playability from the fairway, rough and sand. Proprietary Groove-In-Groove Technology combines with Micro-Positive Surface Roughness to create unparalleled short game control. Loft-optimized weighting and a soft 8620 Carbon Steel construction enable uniquely satisfying feel.

More Options to Lower Your Score - Selecting Sole Grind:

  • Mack Daddy 4 Wedges are available in 4 grind options, each with generous camber from heel to toe for smooth turf interaction and soft feel
  • C-Grind: Increased relief, especially at the heel, making it easier to play shots with the face open. Ideal for medium to shallow attack angles and/or firm course conditions. (8° Bounce)
  • S-Grind: Medium-width sole with slight camber at the back and moderate heel relief to keep the leading edge low through impact, promoting solid contact on open-faced shots. (10° Bounce)
  • W-Grind: Sole is wider at the center and toe, and narrower at the heel, with moderate heel relief and generous front-to-back camber. That prevents digging without increasing bounce, and keeps the leading edge close to the turf at impact. Great for open-faced shots and more versatile than the previous W-Grind. (12° Bounce)
  • X-Grind: The newest Callaway grind features a narrow, high-bounce crescent sole with the low point near the front. Excellent for moderate to steep attack angles and medium-to-soft course conditions (12° Bounce)

The New Standard for Wedge Performance

  • Most vigorously tested and Tour-validated wedge Callaway has ever offered
  • Tour refined shapes, sole grinds and camber make it easier to create clean contact on tight lies for greater control
  • 4 weight ports and milled aluminum medallions enables positioning of the CG progressively upward as loft increases for solid feel on every shot
  • Club head constructed of soft 8620 Carbon Steel to equip golfers with a uniquely satisfying feel
The New Standard for Wedge Performance

Groove-In-Groove Technology + Micro-Positive Surface Texture

  • Proprietary Groove-In-Groove Technology is saw-cut and horizontally milled to precise tolerances for spin
  • Lower-lofted wedges (52° and below) feature a 20D groove for more consistent spin on fuller shots
  • Higher-lofted wedges (54° and up) feature an aggressive 5D groove for maximum control out of the rough and around green
  • Each 16-groove configuration features Callaway’s extra “Nip It” groove near the leading edge for added spin control
  • Micro-Positive Surface Roughness milled into the flat parts of the face enable increased spin on a variety of shots
  • 3 raised micro ridges extend the length of the hitting area to grab golf ball’s cover and deliver Tour-level spin control
  • Combination of grooves + micro grooves provides 84 contact points for the face to grab the ball’s cover

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ok, I admit it Yeah, I traded in 4 Vokey SM5 wedges to Callaway just to get a discount on 2 Mack Daddy 4 Chrome wedges. Why? Well, for starters, the MD4s just look cool. Aside from the jeweled back and the smooth satin steel finish, the rounded edges have that melted look. Who can’t hit something that sweet? Second, my wedge game just got a whole lot easier. I’m talking about hitting my target and getting predictable rollout. Third is feel, which feels forged, but the ball just hangs on the club face, like for-ever. Who can’t control that? Last, these are versatile. Tight lie, deep rough, sand, half wedge, toe runner, full shots: these do it all, and they do it well. I never had such feel and confidence with the Vokey.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Go back to the drawing board with this one For starters, the shaping of the wedge at address is terrible. There is just something off-putting about the wedge that is hard to describe but it does not make you want to hit it. Second, the feel is awful, it feels so hard that even good strikes feel miss-hit. The finishes offered aren't all that attractive either. Go back to the matte finish of the md3 as this chrome is a reflective machine. Spin is okay, nothing to write home about and the grinds/bounce options are solid. This would be a step backward from MD3 if they didn't bring out the X grind, which is a real winner. In the end these are not a great product and I would not recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal weighting, gorgeous craftsmanship Confidence. That's what you want, in fact, must have in golf--especially the short game. These wedges feel so good in your hands and look so good at address, you can't wait to stuff one close. I love the detail and perfect weighting in these. Lastly, if you need full 'stop' effect out of bunkers? These bad boys are for you. Well done, Callaway! MD4

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feel and spin After buying the 60*, I have since purchased the 56*, 52* and 46* MD4 wedges. These are very nice wedges that are responsive and provide great feedback and spin. These are not the "longest" wedges but that is not something I was looking for as I prefer distance control and spin. The groove pattern and technology imparts a great deal of spin on the ball, especially on shots around the green. The sole options in the line allowed for a set makeup that fits my game and course conditions perfectly. The black matte finish is an added bonus that frames the ball very well and with zero glare on sunny days.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Black finish wears within a few days. Really doesn't hold up long enough to justify the purchase. Should have gone with the chrome. Callaway should either improve durability of black finish or do better job of warning customers of the quick wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Stroke Saver For Sure - 10 to 75 Yard Miracle Club Just bought a new X grind wedge and I immediately started hitting my pitch shots closer to the target. I have had trouble in the past getting those 10 to 75 yard pitches close to the hole with unpredictable roll out after the shot lands. With this new wedge, I am able to get more spin on the ball and shoot at the flag and watch the ball hit a check up closer to the hole. My confidence level with these shots has increased ten fold and now have no doubt about where the ball will end up. If you want sure grip spin - you gotta get it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Wedge I've ever hit!! I was expecting great things from this wedge. Honestly it's a disgrace. It felt as If I were hitting rocks with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Great Callaway Wedge This is another great Callaway Mack Daddy wedge. Beautiful looks and fantastic quality. Very similar to the MD3 (which is a good thing). The only issue I have is mostly my own OCD and that’s that I wish they matched the wedge color with the woods. I loved that they matched the MD3 green with the Epic green. I wish they would have matched the Rogue blue with the MD4. But other than that meaningless quibble these wedges are fantastic. I carry four of them 46/50/54/60 in the dynamic golf onyx black s400 shafts and they perform great. I love to flight my wedges low and these shafts and wedges allow me to do that.
