Searing Box Mystery

My box is 2 years old. The burner tube is rusted out, holes big enough to poke a finger thru. The angled heat diffuser plate has rusted out, as well as the square plate with the small holes punched in it. Be aware that these parts have a very limited life. The mystery? You cant find a parts list, parts diagrams, source of the replacement parts or even a model number anywhere, including this website.

Pretty Good, Still Figuring It Out

Used it a few times and it's worked pretty well with burgers and steak tips. it truly is for searing as it is difficult to keep the temp low enough to prevcent charring. trying chicken this we which will be the ultimate test

Works For Reverse Seat, Not A Grill

I’ve used this a few times now. You cannot grill on this without having the ground below the box get covered in grease drippings. Not really an issue on a reverse sear, as long as most of the fat has been cooked out of the meat.

Not Powerful Enough.

This box just isn't hot enough. Yes, if you turn it to max and close the lid for 15 minutes it can get very hot around 900 degrees. After you open the lid and sear multiple items the heat drops significantly and will not give you much of a sear. When finishing a sous vide steak I like to sear with the top open so as not to raise the internal temp of the steak and I'm sitting there all day trying to get a sear.
