Rated 4 out of 5 by from They are ok but not Ratchet Ties Downs Says it in the ad but not true"Hold down your cargo safely with the CargoLoc 12' Extreme Ratchet Tie Downs."These may be ok for some things but I bought them to secure a kayak to my roof rack. They get snug by pulling the strap through and a cam with teeth hold the strap. There is no "ratchet" mechanism. I can see where they'd work well for somethings and I was able to get them tight enough but ended up with a fair amount of slack by the time I got home. I added bungee cords at a couple spots so I made it home without a problem. Would not use these for long distance. I am sure they be fine with other things that aren't so flexible and oddly shaped

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to thread We bought these straps to secure our canoe to the roof of our minivan. The biggest issue is that it is very difficult, and requires an above average bit of dexterity and patience, to thread the one end of the strap into the "buckle" for tightening. It's a challenge even if you're sitting on the ground, and even more difficult to do when you're standing on a step-stool or reaching over your head to tighten it down. You have to compress the release button on the buckle, while simultaneously trying to thread the strap into the buckle from the INSIDE portion of it. Just really awkward, and will become even more difficult if (when) the strap's end begins to fray a bit. Once you get it threaded, it works fine but I don't think I'll have the patience to use them much longer. I see easier-to-use straps in our near future...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not easy to use this was supposed to be an easy to use alternative to the ratchet systems.... i disagree. the learning curve in the hot Florida sun was annoying and i never feel totally secure after install and driving. I will be going to buy better product on my next river kayak trip

Rated 3 out of 5 by from CargoLoc 12' Extreme AutoCam Tie Downs These tie-downs do the job. My canoe remained safely on my roof without sliding around on top. I will reccomend to any canoe enthusiast that they consider getting tie-downs because they minimize wear and tear on your canoe and vehicle and contribute to road safety.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complicated and impossible We could not get these to work correctly. They were complicated to put together and wouldn't tighten. I drove halfway home with a kayak on the roof and had to stop to take it down because it was going to fall off due to these tie downs not holding tight.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as I would like These would probably be good if holding something in place with little resistance. The locking mechanisms allow the strap to slip quite easily. I don't think I would purchase them again, unless I was in a crunch!
