Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value This bag lives up to every advertised detail and more. We needed some extra room for a family camping trip and was a little worried about this bag after reading other reviews. However, we had no other choice. We loaded it to the max, installed it correctly (zipper to the rear), and headed out. We drove 7 hours through some of the worst rain I have ever been in. Times where we just about had to stop. The bag never moved, and never leaked a single drop. Not even dampness in the bag. It did exactly what I needed. Very tough material and well made. Great product and well worth the money. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent bag Bought this bag for a cross country adventure. We drove 3000 miles from Vt to the California Arizona deser and back. We had side rails but no front or back rails and it worked great. We were able to pack 2 small duffle bags 3 large over night bags 1 tent 2 pool noodles and still had room for more. Looks brand new despite desert heat low 20's in the grand canyon and heavy rain coming home. We did our things in garbage bags and there was some moisture from humidity but nothing was even damp. Far better than I expected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Weather Resistant does not mean WATER or Moisture resistant This is a good item for extra space, but do not expect anything to stay DRY inside this product. Used this carrier along the coast this summer in Pacific Northwest. Items stayed dry during the day when sun was out. What ever you left in the carrier, while parked, after dark became damp with just simple nighttime coastal dew fall. If you drove in the fog the contents became soaked along the front and trailing outer edges, water even began to pool in the bottom after just a two hour drive in light fog. I threw the carrier away after the fifth day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible quality and durability I purchased this carrier against my better judgement. I used it this past week for the first time. 200 miles to our destination and 200 miles back. After unloading if I noticed it had formed a bunch of small tears and bubbles in the water lining. This was definitely a huge disappointment and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get the run around from the manufacturer. I took photographs to send them and luckily I kept the receipt. If they honor their warranty I will update this review, if not then it's safe to assume I paid $50 for a few straps and a couple of pieces of fabric that are now useless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Absolutely watertight through 18 hours of driving rain. No wind noise. Perfectly fits the 38x38 opening between crossbars on my 2015 Subaru Outback. Excellent capacity. I did spray the zipper seams with silicon, and made sure the zipper was oriented toward the back of the car, with the flap in place.I suspect filling it to capacity makes it easier to shed water, but still, anyone who had this leak must not have used it on correctly.Put 3,000 miles on at speeds up to 80-85 mph.I heartily recommend this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for price I bought this bag for a move from Indiana to Southern California. We strapped it to the top of a Rav4. It held up great. The first day of the trip we drove through driving rain for almost 2 straight hours. I checked the bag after the rain storm and felt some moisture on the inside of the material, but found no standing water visible. The next 2 days the bag was subjected to high speeds in the 80mph's along with high winds in the mountains and deserts. Upon arriving in California we found the bag to be in great condition on the outside. Once I opened the bag up and removed the contents I did find a small puddle of water in the back of the bag. When I poured the water out, I would estimate that it was about "1 cup" of water. After all the rain the first night and the distance I was not at all surprised. Hence why I gave it a 5 rating. One of the preventative measures I took when loading the bag was I put all the items into heavy duty garbage bag based on a recommendation from another review. So even though I did find water in the bag, all the contents were drive and safe.So in summary:- more than sufficient straps- very durable- holds a lot of contents- very little wind noise- very little effect on driving response of SUV- very water resistant (not water proof)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value We bought this the day before our trip because our old one was stolen. We didn’t have a lot of time to shop and it was only $40 versus over $100 for our old one. Also 15 cubic feet is pretty big for a hard or soft car top carrier. We have 2 kids and 2 great danes so space it a premium inside our Excursion. We were only driving for an hour and there was only a chance of scattered showers so we did not take any precautions like put our luggage in garbage bags or duct tape the zipper. The inside of the carrier is lined with some kind of plastic and the zipper is covered by a large flap. We put our clothes, sleeping bags and pillows in the carrier. Of course we got hit with a severe storm with high winds and driving rain. The rain was so bad that streets were flooded in minutes and some cars pulled off the road and parked. When we unpacked at our camp site I was pleasantly surprised that there were only a few wet spots on some of our bags. It is weather resistant not water proof so I will use plastic bags next time.We are buying a second one for our next trip. For me the only negative is that the buckles for straps are light duty and I would not trust them on a longer trip. I bought ratchet straps that I plan to use next time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product I purchased this carrier for a family trip to Florida. I put it in the bed of my F-150. We had a couple of downpours there and back and it kept everything dry. I wish it was bigger but it was also designed to go on the roof of a car so really have no complaints. It fit two large suitcases and had room in fron for two kid sized suitcases. I used the straps to connect to the bed tie downs. I purchased 'D" rings from wallmart and attached them to the bed tie downs, then ran the straps through the rings. Didn't move at all. I even ran it through a car wash to make sure, no problem.
