When used with a Carhartt leash, the leash can come off the harness unexpectedly and the dog can get off leash when not intended.

Bought for my son’s new puppy. It’s perfect to walk her and has room for her to grow into as well

Chet (my best pal and shop foreman) is a powerhouse. After his anchor was upgraded to a 5/8"x24" rod, and his rope to a 550# dock rope, he destroyed his cheaper harness. This one has held up. Also fits perfectly over his chore coat.

My Winston ( a Bloodhound) has been wearing these harnesses about 5years now, before I was replacing harnesses about every 2 weeks, he kept breaking the others. Good harness comfortable easy to adjust., cool on him.

Great harness. Fit like a glove once adjusted. Looks good

Extremely well made. Our dog loves getting it on because it means we are going outside.

Takes a few minutes for initial adjustments. Seems comfortable on very active 1 1/2 yr.old lab. Fabric is very breathable, good for hot weather. We can use it for control without "punishing" her with a neck collar. Not too bulky. Sally (Oregon)

The bottom strap gaps and the front stains my dogs fur. Otherwise, seems good.

Took time to get the harness adjusted properly for my dog. He wears it for hours when we go for hikes, he even swims in it and has had no issues with it rubbing his skin. I believe a lot of complaints about rubbing issues is poor adjustment. This harness is rugged and has served well for the past year with no sign of wear. The option of a chest connection works great when he gets in his "mush dog" mode to keep him on track. I also use it as a safety harness when we are in the jeep with the doors off to prevent him from falling out. When it wears out (if it ever does) I will be buying another.

Well made harness. A handle on top would be niece but not possible with this design. Problem is, the hardware on the side seems to be made of pot metal. It has corroded and is cutting through the straps. The fittings/buckles should be stainless steel.

Have been using this harness on my German Shepard for awhile now. He is 85 lbs and pulls on walks. Speaks to the durability of this Carhartt product - no tears and it's still in great shape! He gets compliments on his gear on walks.

We get a lot of complaints but sadly it cuts my dog armpits , so I can't use anymore

I purchased two for my growing beagle. One in a small, the other in a medium. They look great -- he gets lots of compliments. It works well with the Journeyman Leash -- the two hooks at the top pair with the leash's hook clip. Downsides? Neither the small nor medium sizes have the buckle shown on the chest in the product photo. There are buckles on the lower chest/belly and arms straps, but the lack of an upper chest strap caused the harness to the gap. I use the back buckle more instead of the front out, fearing that he may slip out as he pulls.

Rugged ,tough , durable harness . Works like it should . It takes a little time to get a proper adjustment , unless your dog is growing it's a one time thing . We like it better than other harnesses we have . I find it laughable that people would give a poor review because their dog chewed on it . That's on the owner and their poor dog . It's not the harness' fault .
