Normally, hoodies have a certain amount of warmth, and IME zip-ups are generally a little less warm than their pullover counterparts. You sort of know by looking at the fuzz and the material thickness what to expect, generally. For instance, I have an Ariat zip up from work; it's obnoxiously too large but dang is it a solid warm hoody. The thickness of this hoody fabric is just about the same (the outer, not including the liners); might even be because of the rain defender extra it might be a bit thicker in the body, however - This hoody is considerably warmer! Most of the time I am wearing layers in my home office (up in Gunnison County area); it's not freezing but I run cold and since I'm sitting doing nothing physical I don't really warm up until the afternoon. This hoody definitely makes me hot - I had to take it off well before lunch break! Now it is a bit heavy, but it is hardy and honestly makes it feel cozier. The rain defender treatment really does bead water, and especially up here in mountain territory we don't get a torrential constant downpour, just occasional drizzles, maybe an hours-long downpour that will subside. This hoody is perfect for the weather: keeps you warm, sheds the water, holds up to woodsy overgrown brush (willows, trees, shrubs, thorny bushes etc) and ranch chores (hay, fences, abrasions from stuff), and in my opinion looks great. The sizing is interesting, definitely not what I was expecting. The body is a bit wider, while the arms are a little bit slimmer. That is, the chest and waist are more what you'd expect from Carhartt (like an active jac), but the arms are tighter than something like an active jac. There's plenty of room to layer things; but you'd layer more short sleeves and vests and maybe a long sleeve but not multiple long sleeves, as the arms are too tight. Last thing worth mentioning is the pockets. I like that there is a secondary phone-specific pocket inside the right outer, and it is sized really perfectly for a phone. Holds my Pixel 9 insanely well. Both outer pockets have a 'storm flap'; a little bit of extra fabric that covers the opening so the contents stay dry. They're a little annoying to move to get into the pockets, but overall, not too bad. Definitely noticeable. Overall, a great hoody. Highly recommended, especially great for Christmas or Birthday present. Have yet to really see the longevity of it (multiple months), which is why I only gave 4 stars.

Love it. Been conveting one since I saw my coworker wear theirs. Love the fact it's a hoodie with several pockets.

It's really comfortable, sizes are huge. I wear other brands XL T-shirts and went with the Medium Carhartt Sweatshirt. Still roomy, perfect fit. Glad I got it. They should make a plaid version and some different colors.

I love this hoodie. I work in a 35 degree cooler and need to stay warm. Big PLUS Right HERE: Its durable and the hood is large enough to cover a hat on head and Stay on Head and not slip off. Big Hood. Some other hoodies have small hoods and slip off. This one doesn't. The side pockets are large enough and deep enough, angled well to keep things inside for a working man moving around, and have the slip cover openings which keep dirt/water out and the preferred contents IN!. Big Plus is the small inner pocket ("media pocket") inside the rightside pocket. I keep the smaller items I need for quick access and keep them clean/dry. Thanks Carhartt! Cheers, JB.
