[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The jacket is a bit big which, my wife says, is a good thing. It is warm when layered underneath but not as effective as a windbreaker as I had hoped. It does seem to repel moisture effectively enough though I have not worn it in the rain yet. Having said all this, I would buy it again.

I have had one of these Ascender Water-Resistant Softshell Jackets for past four years and have enjoyed mine more than I can express. The jacket is comfortable and warm and very durable. I am thinking about buying another one, but of another color. Can't pass up an opportunity to take a savings with the company offering a discount!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased the same Jacket 7 years ago and the shrinkflation is very evident. The fleece is no where near as warm as it used to be. When contacting support it was a brand design choice to be an outer layer only with the option to purchase more layers for underneath it. Previously it was its own stand alone jacket with fleece lining that would be enough to be the only layer needed to keep warm. The look is the exact same, but the pockets are see through the fabric is so thin. It really has no real use now that the warmth factor has taken away besides maybe a windbreaker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket looks nice, however it provides no warmth, even on a sunny 55 degree day. Wind cuts right through this jacket. In other words, this is a nice warm day, foggy day, drizzly day jacket, and nothing more. Having shopped Columbia for 20 years, this is the most disappointing Columbia garment I have ever purchased.
