Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fit and Function Just got these in a few weeks ago and have only worn them around the house a little so I can only speak to fit and feel right now. I will update my review as I use them more. Fit: I'm 5-10/175lb and wear size 34 pants. I initially ordered size large in these shorts. The fit good but even with the drawstring pulled tight they still weren't secure. I returned and got Mediums and they fit great without having to synch the drawstring tight. Feel: I bought these to swim, fish, and run around in during the summer. They are nice and light weight and seem to be a product that dries fast. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bathing Shorts (!!) I've been trying to find shorts like this for several years - years ago, I purchased, and in the summer pretty much lived in, a half dozen pair of Patagonia shorts, in a model they no longer make. Attempts at replacement have failed, as later models and other brands had pockets that were too small, or too hard to put my wallet in, or were too snigy across my butt, or didn't dry quickly. These shorts do it all, and serve great as double duty: nice shorts for rambling, and good swim trunks for the beach. So, they are highly recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For Thunder Thighs Only So the utility and construction are good. However, the pictures online just don't show just how large the leg openings are. I'm not sure if they were designed for those gifted with huge upper thighs, and I certainly don't have the skinniest legs, but these certainly have a more kilt-ish look to them from certain angles. That being said, I'm sure if you like doing aggressive aqua-robics with lots of high kicks and deeeeeep lunges, these things would be a great purchase! Otherwise, shoot those legs into a different pair of shorts. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect swim shorts I have been through 4 or 5 swim trunks the past year looking for fit and function that I like. There have been some that fit great but lacked function (I want front pockets and a secure back pocket.) There were others board shorts that look great but there is no inner swim liner. These shorts are perfect. As a bonus, they are very light and dry fast. They don't feel heavy when wet. There is no front tie like a board short to have to mess with when you need to use the restroom (and no velcro closure.) Just great swim trunks built with Columbiia's famous quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable Shorts I like most everything about these shorts. The fit is good, length is great, overall they feel really good. Only down side is the two front pockets, they are made of mess material (inside) which I really don't care too much for. Almost anything I put in the pockets gets caught in the mess. I expect the mess will not last too long with the way I use these shorts, i.e. always putting stuff in & the pulling it out. The pocket openings seems too large, & they tend to stick out a little bit. I would like to see the pockets redesigned. I do recommend the shorts, especially for outdoor uses such as hiking, biking & even fishing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Water Short I have tried different water shorts of all brands and these are the best fitting and the most comfortable. The mesh lining does not give you a wedgy like other water shorts. I wear these whenever I know I'm going to be near water. They dry quick and the pockets are very roomy as a day short to hold keys and a smartphone. The back pocket zipper is perfect to lock up your keys when you go for a quick dip. My waist is a 32 and I bought the small. I would go up to medium next time. Overall, I would buy this again. Excellent product from Columbia. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you don't want boardshorts First the fit: If you have worn Columbia shorts before, the sizing is consistent with what you know. Style: The style takes me back to the 60's when we surfed in "baggies". Today I'd just say they're a relaxed look. Where else can you find a 6" length in swimwear? Fabric: Truly a quick dry, yet properly opaque when wet. I own multiple, high end, long boardshorts that are slow to dry and chafe while waiting to dry. These water shorts will become one of my surf favorites - I can see them hanging from my back pocket while heading to the beach, like in the old days.... Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thank god, shorter inseam Looking to replace some old fishing shorts, I found that now days most "fishing shorts" have 8-12 in inseams. I wet wade all summer and there is just something about a wet shorts leg that I do not like. Did I mention that I'm only 5'6" and short legged? I have a couple of pair of these from "way back" and I truly appreciate the shorter inseam. I just wish the fabric were as soft as my "old timers", and maybe it will be after a few years washing and dunking.
