Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is so pleasant to be dry I bought this jacket as I had spent the previous day soaked to the skin in a "waterproof" jacket that simply lied. I wanted ample room for my shoulders so that I could move my arms without sounding like sand paper and I wanted above all else for my upper half to remain dry. The jacket got 2 more days of workout after purchase and a third day just a week later and so far not a seam no less an arm or the back leaks. The hood is ample and there are good pockets. The reason there is not a fifth star is that it is still hot if you are exercising while in the rain - in my mind "breathable" is questionable. Oh, and the length of the jacket is good so one's posterior also remains dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kept me dry during 50k run! I bought this jacket a few weeks back to wear during the OPSF 50/50 ultramarathon in Indiana. Dubbed the “Toughest race in Indiana”, the 50k that I ran featured over 4400 ft of elevation gain and this years weather was 30 degree temps, rain, ice, slush, mud and snow all combined with 20+ mph winds. The jacket layered over my running gear kept me dry! So thankful to Columbia for this jacket!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rain and Windproof It Is! Dick's quickly responded to my on line order, delivered when estimated. The jacket is excellent quality, seams tight, fit right, wind doesn't get through and it exhales my stale air (somewhat). I have yet to be caught out in a downpour but a water test revealed no obvious places water could get in. The construction is good and the features (storm flap and hand openings with velcro closure) are thoughtful additions. Columbia makes a good stuff and to obtain one at this sale price was fortunate. My only reservation so far is ventilation - but I will experiment with using just the storm flap and so on to mitigate sweat build up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rain jacket Visiting Wisconsin for a bike ride, and weather turned nasty. First, the saleswoman at the store was terrific, I had a different Columbia Jacket in my hand, few bucks cheaper, and she told me no, this one has "double butted seams" or something like that, and was therefore "water proof". Wore the jacket over a long sleeve golf shirt, and road for three hours in continual rain and head wind, at about 50 degrees. The coat was perfect! The rain did not get me, but the coat is also breathable and was very comfortable.I also bought the matching pants, except Dicks only had the coat in blue and pants in black. Oh well, I was dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Took this Jacket Backpacking So far this jacket has worked very well for me during a recent backpacking trip in the Central Sierra's. Managed to avoid any of the typical afternoon thunder / rain showers that can suddenly hit you. So can't really attest to water protection just yet. The jacket did give me added warmth and wind protection though, which is a good thing. But am sure this fall (hopefully we get rain out here) I will put it to the real test. One thing I would suggest is that Columbia add a stuff sack / compression bag for the jacket. It would help a lot in terms of storage in my backpack.Mike

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really just average The arm holes are a little tight which restricts movement to a certain extent. It also tends not to be as breathable as I would have liked being I live in the south and heat is always an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior Water Protection Columbia is a company known for quality, affordable technical wear. As such, it is no surprise that the Watertight II has lived up to its claim of being waterproof and breathable. It has held up to substantial downpours and kept me dry in warmer weather. The sizing fits correctly for length, but being thin I have found that there is some extra width. I would prefer a more tailored sizing, but the extra room will allow me to layer as the temp drops, If you are skinny and think a medium sleeve length will fit you I suggest ordering the medium. Overall, this seems to be a well made jacket and lives up to the specs given in the item description. I highly recommend the Watertight II for this price point.
