This review will be of no concern to people who plan to mod the gun after purchase, but I cannot afford aftermarket parts for it as of now. I like the gun but the front and rear sights are big hunks of plastic with no indicators on them. My front sight was slightly warped out of the box, and the rear had a couple flakes of plastic gouged out of it messing with me sighting it in. Crosman sells a steel breech and a MIM dovetail sight for the rear but they cost more than the whole gun itself. There is no inexpensive front sight replacement that I've found yet either. Those issues aside, the gun has a solid feel to it and a heft that comes of it being mostly metal where it counts. It is accurate as even with the sight issues, it places tight groupings. Trigger pull is a bit heavy but I like the feel. Pumping was a bit tight out of the box but it got easier after roughly 5-6 shots pumping it up 4-5 times each. It "honks" when pumping but mine is not caused by a lube issue as the gun was covered/soaking in oil in the box. Guess it just needs more breaking in. But it has been fine so far and I already got 2 rats with it using Gamo Rocket lead pellets (ratting is why I got it to begin with). Plenty enough power especially at <10 feet. My test shots were out to 25 feet with pretty solid grouping.

I purchased the newly designed 1377 today (6/5/2016) and it seems perfect. I owned the previous design with the sliding breach and it was effortless. Dead on aim right out of the box but that was probably 30 years ago. Remembering the ease and accuracy, I chose to purchase another one. Still just as quiet and still just as effective. A little more complicated with the adjustable rear sights but after about 5 or 6 rounds it was dead on just like the old days. The old gun shot both BBs and pellets but this new one only seemingly fires pellets but that's not a big deal. I'm using it for small yard pests and I would've likely used pellets for that anyway. Great gun for it's purpose. Highly recommended.
