Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good reel for what it is. I own 2 of these reels, a 1000 and a 2500. I recently got back into fishing freshwater having fished saltwater for all of my life. I bought the 2500 size as a cheap replacement for a 30 year old Zebco and paired it with a cheap Shakespeare rod. Having good results with the 2500, I later bought a 1000 size for a panfish rig (paired with a much better rod). In both cases, I wanted inexpensive "learning gear" to expirement with before laying out the cash for better equipment. And that's what, in my opinion, this line is good for. It's a good first reel or good for experimental purposes. This will certainly not be last reel you'll ever buy, but after months of use I can recommend it as a good "first reel" choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2500 size Bought two 2500s for cheap bay and lake reels. These are MUCH heavier than I anticipated. They fish fine so far. Dont cast as far as my similar setups. Drag is kinda so-so with a bigger bass or a slot red but the click helps you find a spot and it's got plenty of power. Anti reverse worked as did the switch. Minimal twisting. I don't anticipate much more than three years of life. Hard to tuck line into plastic holder on spool. Great for a cheap reel. Spool worked for fused line and mono, looks good for braid too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best $15 reel I've ever bought. Excellent guide reel to throw on an 8' or 9' rod in order for your client to beat up all day.Have used it on the river, and have used it in the bay, just hafta rinse it wiyh freshwater when you're done, will cast a bobber and eggs medium distance as well as let the line spin off super easy chucking a 3/4 oz buzz bomb a mile into the salt. Strung with fireline, the rod's drag fights well, the drag is decent for coho and chum salmon. Havent caught Chinook on it yet, but I'm sure it'd be fine on Pac nw Chinook.Put this on a 9' ugly stik, and it'll do exactly what you ask it to do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty darn good for the price Picked up this Diawa while shopping for a new baitcaster. While browsing I saw this for 15 bucks. Hey, why not, right? I have to say this "cheap" spin reel beats out the $50-$75 range reels that I have easily. Love it. Casts go where I want them to. No spooling/tangling issues once. Every time I go small stream fishing this is my go to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price and performance I picked this one up to make an inexpensive combo for my wife. 2500 model. Casts farther than my other reels and runs smooth and silent. She pulled in 3 slab crappies and it didn't miss a beat. There isn't a stop on the dime auto reverse, but it doesn't have much play at all, maybe an 1/8 inch before it stops solid. Metal spool and parts for 15 bucks. No other reel in this price range has this quality. Well worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Disposable For $15 it's a bargain. If it dies just keep the spoil and buy a new one. Frankly, it costs so little the reel is disposable. I have this reel on my 6' St Croix rod...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the Value! I bought this becuase of the vaule not knowing much about the model. I was pleasantly surprise with how it operated while flake fishing. Had ni problem with casting or retrieving line. I would recoomend for any person from seasoned angler looking to have a set up for when you just want to head for a wuick session. For the new guy or girl to the sport you will be happy with the ease of use and.
