The Captive Laces Make Getting
The captive laces make getting into and out of the boots more difficult and take much longer. On my boots, there is a pinch point where the laces transition from the round eyelets over the instep to the shaft. I prefer the lacing system found on my old Pronghorn boots.

Boots Were Incredibly Uncomfortable--inside Part
Boots were incredibly uncomfortable--inside part of the eyelets not padded properly which caused the eyelets to beat the heck out of my ankles. Would not recommend these boots to anyone.

Boot Is Very Good For
Boot is very good for the price point. I have rather bony ankles so where the flex point is on the leather on the outside gets bunched up and causes a pressure point making me lace them very loosely. That said, after a couple months I don't think they're fully broken in yet so that may subside. Otherwise, very sturdy sole making traversing questionable terrain easy. If you have weak ankles, don't expect these to save you as they have good mobility and a very stiff sole. I really like the elastic lace keeper. I considered the Tachyons for their weight but decided to go with a lined boot because of my foot shape and ankle structure. The toe box is comfortably wide and I have no hot spots on my heel. I originally tried the Sonic but had to return them because they failed to break in and had other issues (wearing holes in the heel of my socks and my feet, stitching disintegrating etc. ) but these have been great so far. Background: ran the Rivot TFX for 4 years until they were no longer coyote but more sand. Well loved and still very functional but decided it was time for a more presentable boot.
