To small-framed people with thicker legs: I'm 5'3'' 135 lbs with muscular legs. I've read too many reviews of women's legs suffocating from the knee pads in the combo protective gear packs. I bought these separately and I'm very satisfied with the product. I'm able to wear these pads with the top strap about halfway velcroed and the bottom strap maybe 3/4 velcroed. They're a little bulky, but I'm able to maneuver on skates to the point where I forget I'm wearing the pads. The only thing about buying the knee pads and wrist guards a la carte is that Dick's doesn't sell elbow pads outside of the set, so I'm still on the hunt for those.
