Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far - OK I bought this bat based on some testing done on the 2018 version on a website I found. My son just turned 7 and has been using entry-style Rawlings Raptors thus far, so this is his first bat that would be expected to "perform". We were so excited for it to come and to take it out and try it. Visually, this bat is stunning. The blue color, the neat looking end cap and handle cap (he said it looks like an exotic car wheel) - this bat earns 5 stars in the visual dept. I was excited to observe the "pop" and the sound. After hitting about 100 balls, I'd say this is definitely a step up from his entry-level bats, but it's not like I'm jumping out of my skin about it. When he got pitches on the sweet spot and put all his mechanics together, he definitely drove the ball better than before. Otherwise, I think like many others, this bat suffers from the USA bat standards which are slowing down exit velocity. If you're looking for a good affordable "real" bat, so far this seems like a good pick. Construction seems solid too - I'm not worried about it falling apart or denting (we'll see in time). Also, regarding weight - my son had been using a 27/17 before so I was worried about him getting a 28/18 around. However, the weight distribution seems really good such that he had no problem swinging this heavier bat. It seems like a lot of the weight is in the end and it comes through quickly once he gets into his swing.
