04/28/2026 Review of Dicks Sporting Goods (DSG) Victory Model 65 Quart Cooler By: Bolairdirt in Tennessee Initial impressions of the cooler after removal from the shipping container: The cooler appears robust and very attractive. I loved the blended color scheme. The folding handle is solid and offers a good secure grasp and makes it easy to roll. The latches are cleverly designed to allow one-hand opening and closing, which is a very nice usable feature. They are built for sustainability and should last the life of the cooler. The available latch for a lock is conveniently placed in the center. It has a large twist opening plug to drain water on the handle side (left side of the cooler). The lid is another thoughtful feature I immediately noticed. It is flat but offers a raised lip all around, which is perfect for food preparation using the cooler lid. It also offers two low areas that will allow water or liquids to drain off the cooler lid. The lid itself is very stout and can be used as an additional seat in any situation. DSG is imprinted in the underside of the lid and on the cooler front clearly indicating a Dicks Sporting Goods product. The inside is very smooth and cleans easily. The wheels are normal units for coolers of this type but should function well for the intended use. The bottom has two good size rubber pads installed to prevent sliding in a vehicle. Initial concerns about the cooler are two areas: (1) involves the drain placement and (2) the lack of a second handle or recessed grip on the right side of the cooler. The drain location in my opinion should be on the opposite side from the handle so the cooler can be lifted to enhance draining water while loaded. The lack of a second handle on such a large cooler is a serious concern for moving the unit when loaded with food, drinks and ice as it will be very heavy and cumbersome. Impressions after actual use of the cooler on a trip to Cherokee, NC: In preparation for my trip, the day before departure, I placed several soft drinks and bottles of drinking water in the bottom and then added 64 pounds of ice from my local grocery store. The day of departure I added my food and snacks to the cooler that needed to be kept cold. The cooler was sufficiently roomy for all the necessary supplies for a full 3 day trip. The first issue I experienced was trying to lift the cooler into the back of my Honda CR-V. The main handle offered a good purchase to lift the cooler but the lack of another handle or deep recessed grip area on the right side of the cooler made lifting the cooler nearly impossible. As a last resort I grabbed the wheels while my girlfriend lifted the left side using the handle. The cooler fit perfectly in the back of our 2015 Honda CR-V with plenty of room to spare for other necessities and luggage. The addition of the rubber pads to the bottom of the cooler ensured it did not slide around in the car. The second issue faced was removing it from the car without a second handle for lifting. I opted to leave the cooler in the car and simply removed the items needed and placed them in the refrigerator of the rented log cabin. All items in the cooler remained very cold and the ice retention is extremely impressive. As the 3-day weekend played out the cooler was opened and closed uncountable times for the removal of items and the addition of other food and drink items. The ice retention of this cooler is much greater than the other coolers I own. Upon arriving home on Sunday night the cooler was challenging removed from the back of my CR-V (again I had to grab onto the wheels to lift it up). I removed the drain-to-drain excess water and was disappointed in the location of the drain. As the water ran out, it flowed over the handle creating a splashing and more of a mess than necessary. Any sticky liquid such as orange juice would require a cleaning of the handle. In addition, elevating the cooler to enhance the draining was difficult with the lack of a right-side handle or recessed grip. The food items were then removed but the drinks remained in the cooler. As of this writing on Tuesday evening (6 days), a significant portion of ice remains in the cooler and I have been regularly opening the lid to retrieve ice cold drinks and monitor the remaining ice. Final thoughts: This cooler was provided to me at no cost by DSG for this review. I am a paid endorser and have received this product for free. If I were shopping for a new cooler, this unit would certainly attract my attention due to its ice retention, modern color scheme, great one-hand latches, large drain, 65-quart volume and robust durability. However, the position of the drain dumping onto the handle is a detraction. But most importantly, the lack of a second handle or recessed area on the right side of the cooler to facilitate lifting would be a solid deal breaker for me. I would highly recommend a few modifications, like placing the drain opposite the flip-up handle, and adding a second handle, i.e rope handle, on the other side. This cooler, when filled, is too heavy and cumbersome to pick up and move about by one person, and a second person has no means by which to pick up or hold on to the cooler. Thank you for your consideration of my review.

My first impression of the Dick's Sporting Goods DSG Victory Cooler was "Wow". Before I had even used it I could tell that the cooler felt incredibly solid and well made. Even better, it looked great too. Over the last couple weeks I've had the opportunity to use the cooler in a variety of settings and it has quickly become a staple for our family outings. We've used it to haul treats and drinks to soccer games and hosting family BBQs. It received a ton of compliments for its design and everyone asked where I got it. While this cooler is heavy duty, the wheels and integrated handle make it incredibly mobile. We had to walk pretty far to the soccer fields and the wheels made it easy to move the fully loaded cooler across the sidewalks, parking lot, and grass. These wheels are rugged and a great feature of the cooler. Not only did we use it for busy weekends of sports and family events, it also became an essential piece of gear in a more rugged environment. We hauled the cooler around in the back of a SxS for a day out repairing fences around the property. It handled the bumps and dirt and direct sun like a pro. At the end of the day, it still held a ton of ice with no problem. It was great having ice-cold drinks readily available while working in the heat. Bottom line, if you need a cooler that looks great for those "clean" family weekend events or something that can handle a "dirty" rugged workday, the DSG Victory gives you the best of both worlds. I received this product for free to test and review and I am grateful I got the opportunity to try this great cooler.

This is my second DSG Cooler. I purchased a 28 quart DSG Cooler about a year ago and recently received this 65 Quart DSG Cooler at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review. The 65 quart capacity is perfect for a long weekend trip or hosting a backyard get together. The swing out pull handle is stout and wheels are smooth which makes it very easy to move around from the patio to the pool or around any hard surface. Ice retention is great and it has a threaded drain plug when it’s time to drain (something I wish my 28 quart cooler had). The latch design is superior compared to other manufacturers. I like how how the latches are hinged and the rubber completely wraps the locking tabs on the lid to give a solid seal at both corners. I keep the lid unlatched while storing so they don’t stretch out. The only drawback with the cooler is it has molded side grips in lieu of carry handles which are preferred when the cooler is full and you need to lift it into the truck. My other coolers have single carry handles or side rope handles but lack wheels so it’s a trade off. Overall I’m really happy with it and would definitely recommend any of the DSG Coolers.

I was fortunate enough to receive this cooler for free as a paid endorser. My first impression of the cooler was that it was heavier than I expected. Looking at the cooler though it is no surprise why this cooler is very well built. Opening up the cooler I noticed that the sides and lid were very thick making them well insulated. I also appreciated that this cooler had a rubber seal around the lid to keep the cold air from seeping through the crack. The lid locking features are a soft plastic so they shouldn’t break as easy with repeated use. When I first saw the handle on the cooler, I thought it was strange I have never seen a metal handle to move the cooler around before and it looked big and bulky. After using it though I realized it made moving the cooler a breeze and made it so much more ergonomic. From using the cooler frozen food stayed frozen for about 2.5-3 days after that started to thaw we added 5 lbs ice and that stayed frozen for another 3 days with some ice left frozen. A couple of warnings about this cooler. First as I mentioned before it is heavy even when empty so lifting it in and out of a vehicle can be difficult. Moving it with the wheels though is easy. I also thought the location of the drain was odd. The drain is on the handle side so the liquid drains right on the handle and the handle is not available to help tip the cooler to help it drain. Overall, this is a well built and great cooler. It should be able to stand up to the roughest use and provide cool food for all of your adventures.

This cooler is great! It is a really fun color, and we love the overall look of it. There are clamps that hold the lid shut very well, and we never had to worry about our food inside not staying cold. The ice retention lasted many days and was much better than other coolers we have used before. It has a sturdy, metal handle used for rolling the cooler around, and the wheels make it so you can turn the whole cooler tightly on the spot. The draining spout holds nice and tight, and we never had any leaking! It would be nice to have better handles on each side for a better grip when needing to lift and carry it. But overall, it is a great cooler that we are excited to use again and again for a long time! This review is by a paid endorser who received free products.

This is a great cooler! Took it for a family get together for the weekend, it held plenty of drinks and kept them nice and cold. Even full of ice are drinks, it was easy to maneuver around with the handle and wheels. The quality of the cooler feels nice and like it will last a long time. The ice melted a little, as expected, but the plug made it convenient to drain the excess water so we could refresh and add more ice. Overall I’m very happy with the cooler and would recommend it! I was given this cooler for free in exchange for my honest review.

Firstly, I am a paid endorser of this cooler and did receive it for free to review. My first impression of this cooler is that the handle is quite solid, the wheels are made quite well, and the quality seems to be quite good. The durability of this cooler is better than I expected. After testing it for a number of days on a roadtrip, I was still impressed with the quality. It was 109°F on the outside surface of the cooler and only 31°F on the inside with only one bag of ice that we had put in some days prior. I definitely would recommend this cooler to someone looking for a quality wheeled cooler.

Excited for this cooler. Purchased as a birthday gift for my partner. However, arrived with a large scratch across the back. Will need to exchange.

DOESN'T keep ice for 8 hrs let alone 8 days. This cooler is a waste of money. It's worse than a bad joke! DON'T BUY IT!!!! Yes, it was in the shade the whole time we were camping!! Now it just sits in the garage. I would not recommend this cooler!!!

Bought this cooler for a road trip but glad we tested it out first. The only handle is the one used to pull the cooler. The edge on each end of the cooler is very narrow, making it almost impossible to lift a full cooler in and out of a vehicle. We ended up putting the cooler in the vehicle and then filled it. After we opened the drain plug the first time to drain, we were never able to fully tighten and it leaked, causing the sureties to become quite wet on the 2 hour drive home. Did not retain ice as advertised. We returned the cooler after using once for a weekend trip.

This cooler did not disappoint us in 100 degree hot weather. Definitely worth every penny.

The best cooler we have so far absolutely love and love the color
Too much money
We bought this a couple months ago. The ice melts quickly and you can’t grip it to lift it. Not worth the price.

Purchased for a week long trip to a lake house. it is sturdy and did well keeping our drinks cold. One thing that would make it better would be better hand holds for carrying. We had to carry it up a flight of stairs and the hand holds aren’t very deep to keep your hand in them when it has weight in it. We ended up using the long handle on one end and the bottom base by the wheels on the other. You had to be strong to hold it at the wheeled end
