Poor Quality, Rusts Instantly
The cage portion of the item rusted after just a light rain on it. The clips rusted also, making them even more useless. They clips are hard to use, and after instantly rusting, they became very weak, causing the clip my rope was tied to to break off.

Decent Product For The Price
Just bought one of these chum pots. Nice heavy construction so I don't have to add an 8 oz. sinker to it. I saw another review where someone lost their entire rig, so, WARNING!!!! The cotter pins that come with the chum pot are to be taken off and thrown away. The are nothing but assembly and "packing" material. The clips provided will go thru the lid and the body of the pot. When clipped into place, they will stand straight up and the lid will be tightly closed. How you tie a line to it is up to you. I use a 3.5' long piece of rope. Tie one end to each clip with a bowline. Find the center, pull it upward and make a loop using and overhand knot. I then use a 50' rope with a locking carabiner clip as my lanyard. If you plan on using this chum pot for winter flounder, I would suggest painting it bright yellow.

Practical
Got this online on sale. It is heavy and feels like it is built well. But, I am using this in saltwater so I can't really say how bad it is going to rust that why for quality I gave it an average rating. I wash down all my equipment with fresh water after every outing so only time will tell how long it will last. But it is practical and it will serve my needs.

Expert Product Review From Joe
Sunk this chum pot into the water and on the second dunk the carter pins popped out of the top casing causing me to lose the entire rig. These pins will slide out very easily and do not hold. Bad design! It needs a locked stable ring instead of pins that can pop out so easily. Ruined my day on the water trying to retrieve it with treble hooks. $22.00 down the drain!

Excellent Product. Hard To Find In Any Store.
Very happy with product and service. I had one for a few years but it finally gave up. Looked high in low in every sporting goods store in my area. Was very surprised and pleased to find it online at Dick's. I bought two and a friend also bought two.
