Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! New to me this season and my first power auger purchase - I've used it on about 6 outings, probably drilled a total of 35 holes with it so far. Selected for its good reviews and light weight rating, I have no complaints. Probably doesn't drill quite as fast as the mako, but does the job effortlessly. Simple to start, usually starts on about the 3rd pull for me, nearly smokefree. I have a feeling that I'll get my starting routine dialed in shortly to get 'er to go on the first pull consistently soon. Very fuel efficient, still on my first tank (of pre-mixed 50:1). Have had it laid down in all positions w/o any leaking. No complaints on the stingray from this female angler! Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best auger I've ever owned! I bought this auger about a month ago and am very impressed with how fast it bores through 18" of solid ice. In mere seconds I am ready to fish. The starting instructions are easy to understand and follow, too. The auger starts very quickly. I also like the fact that after the hole has been bored, there are much fewer ice chips to clean out of the hole unlike with other augers I have used. I also like the large on/off switch and the large opening in the handle for the starter rope. Also, the large handles on the auger itself are nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Auger! Got this as a birthday gift after fighting with my old auger for the last several years. And this is a godsend! Starts easy (temps anywhere from -14 to 35 above) and chews thru the ice like crazy with very little to no down pressure. have drilled well over a 100 holes so far and have barely used any fuel (I'm talking not even half a tank!). I am using the premixed stihl motomix. I am more than impressed so far with this auger! hope it lasts as long as my last one. No better auger for the money IMO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time User I bought the stingray s33 at the start of the ice fishing season and was very surprised how fast it cut. I was a little skeptical of the smaller motor but after cutting 20 holes the first day out all running at 3/4 throttle I was sold. Nice and light compared to the jiffy model 30 I had used before. my only concern so far was a small amount of fuel on the bottom of the tank after laying it down for a couple hours. I will look into that more over the off season. Overall great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good quality I bought this a few weeks ago and opened it up from the box, first thing I noticed was lightweight and good balance when upright. Padded grips are very comfortable and helps not slipping holding auger. Put gas in it and one pull it was running. I brought it out ice fishing a week later and it was 2 degrees out with 20 knot winds. It started every pull and drilled holes with no effort! Highly recommended so far. I've only used it once so hopefully it maintains this performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of power and Light-Weight Bought the Mako 43cc 8in ice auger rather then an electric or propane version and am happy with my purchase. I was initially concerned with the weight, but it fits comfortably on the sled and isn't overbearing to handle. I contemplated getting the 71cc but this one has plenty of power, cuts holes fast and starts easily. The weather in CO didn't provide much ice this winter - look forward to using my Mako in the years to come.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful, broken during third use I have been trying to contact customer service to get the auger repaired, have sat on hold for over an hour, and then was hung up on. I contacted the operator, she put me on a "priority" line and again I was on hold for an hour before the machine hung up on me. The most annoying advertisement for their awesome products was what I had to listen to. And it is the middle of ice fishing season with our power auger broken!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price Great price for a gas auger. It has plenty of power to do the job. I have two issues this this auger. It has a hard time starting in cold weather below 0 degrees. They put a large pull handle on it so you don't have to take your gloves off, but made the on/off switch small and hard to push that you have to take your gloves off to push it. Overall, it's a good auger and I would recommend it for occasional use.
