Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent but can't use a bobber stop Great rod, but my one complaint -- and I knew this going into it, just want to call it out -- is that the micro guides (which are generally really nice to have) are too small to let a bobber stop through. I use the rubber kind, and I might try the knot style to see if that works, but I'm not hopeful. The tip guide is really tight. That said, I'm not disappointed & I really like the rod. For the price it's good. But if you plan to use a bobber stop way up your line, you probably want to go with something with larger guides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable is all I can say I bought the 5'6" rod for crappie fishing. Specifically shooting socks with 1/32 jig head. I have caught many crappie with this set up. My most impressive catch is a 26 pound catfish on this rod, a small spinning reel and 4lb stren line. Took 25 minutes to land him. I was amazed to see the fish much less land him. I also caught a 2.5lb crappie on it. Again I can't say enough about this rod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and smooth I love this rod to hunt down some Smallmouth. I have taken this rod out to wide river beds to small creeks around my area. The casting is smooth and silky with the those micro guides, the line casts out far and quiet. I have used this rod to target Smallmouth but it is so light and sensitive that I have caught many other species of fish too, small and large. The cork handle keeps you fishing even in the chilled fall air. I definitely recommend this rod if you're river fishing for Some Bass or casting out a drop shot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic rod im an avid stream fisherman and was looking to upgrade my ultralight combo with a cost effective rod. although initially questionable about the field and stream brand of fishing products, this rod comes with the features of a higher end St. Croix and is packed with all the components I want in a rod: cork split grips, small upper handle, solid reel seat, 30 ton graphite blank, and micro guides. this rod is comfortable, balanced, and a breeze to fish with, all for under $50. unfortunately, after being much too harsh trying to unsnag my lure I snapped this rod in half, but am undoubtedly going to make a claim on my no sweat protection plan and get a replacement. buying this rod is a no brainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tec-lite I bought this rod with the intent for targeting crappie, and whithin the first hour of using it I got to test its slab slaying cababilities. I coupled it with 4lb flouro & an Abu Garcia cardinal 10. I was throwing 1/32oz arkie jig with a silver 1" fluke style trailer. For only being 6ft, it pitched a light bait considerably far for such a light setup, which I was happy with, I was bank fishing at this particular spot & the fish were out there quite a way under a bridge. Its stiff enough to pitch underhand with accuracy as well has enough flex to hoist a nice size fish out & in your hand. The cork handle is primo & the split grip (bass style) handle is just what you need for feeling the subtle bites of a lite-jig. For under $100 this pole is worthy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feeling rod I never write up a review without trying it for it's actual purpose but this is an exception. I've been using a 4'6" Ugly Stik for my main pan fish set up and wanted another smaller rod for fishing in my kayak while fishing two poles. I first found this on the site then went to the store and was able to get my hands on it and compared it to several other ultra lite rods. This feels just as nice as the 129.99 St.Croix and a few other rods that were well over 100 bucks. I paired this with a Shimano Sienna (1000) and 4lb Trilene.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Rod Have this rod paired with a a shimano Sedona 1000 series and I am very impressed. Was on my kayak catching blue gills for bait and hooked into a three pound channel cat(my intended target) on four pound test. Rod performed perfectly and actually was some of the most fun I've had cat fishing. More than satisfied with this rod. It is sensitive strong and and well made. Will be my go to trout and small bass rod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from rare combination Love this rod...first of all, it is somewhat difficult to find what I consider to be a true light action, especially in a one-piece 6'6" package. What really makes this rod a rare bird, however, is the eleven (11!) guides that make the rod work every step of the way, so to speak. This is the kind of rod that will really zip 1/32 oz jigs out there (seems to be perfectly suited to 1/24 oz jigs, btw,--worth seeking out) and allow you to enjoy the middling bluegill and still manage the 3-4 lb bass that always seems to show up...caught many 'mango' snappers and weakfish too. With a good reel, and good technique the design of the product gives you pleasurable access to an excellent spectrum of fish types/sizes. I have four, and just bought two more (and would do so at twice the price)
