Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected! In love with this set. I read many mixed reviews on similar sets and I’m so happy I chose to go with this one. All of the items arrived in perfect condition and with all the packaging undamaged. The bars are solid and good quality. The weights are all finished nicely and do not have any uneven grooves that can damage the bars. Since it came with 4 plates of each weight (except the 25) it gives a lot of flexibility with how much you want to put on the bar to move up increments as slow or quickly as you’d like. The screw threading on the barbell would not be my first choice however it is very secure! If you hold the screw to rotate it all the way from the end to against the plates than yes it would be annoying. I just touch one edge of the screw in a quick downwards motion to get it to tighten or loosen a few rotations on it’s own. This works great and is much faster and easier on the hands. I just started working out again so I’m not trying to lift too heavy which is why this set was so perfect. I will probably buy 1 set of 45 lbs for this set eventually. It’s perfect right now and I highly recommend for the average lifter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job Good variety of plates. The only drawback is there isn’t a clip to hold the plates in place on the bar it’s like a bolt that screws on and it takes a very long time to screw it all the way up to the plate to secure it in place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Weight set is flexible, but wobbly The two dumbbell handles hold the weights on via friction springs. While I don't experience them slipping, the motion caused by curling the weights does take a little getting used to. The Spin on latches for the barbell hold the weights tight making for a much more pleasant lifting experience. All in, I would probably have chosen to purchase the dumbbell core's separately. However, given this deal saves you $30 over buying items separately it still makes a for a good deal, especially if what you are really looking for is the barbell.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome starter set Excellent starter weight set. PROS -Bar is very solid and sturdy. It is only a standard barbell which needs to be stated but even so it is very sturdy and can easily handle 250 pounds with no issues which is something I have done with it and it didn't bend. -Weights are solid enough and well made although they can chip if you drop them on hard surfaces -Great price for what it is, would have honestly paid more for it CONS -the dumbbells didn't come with the slides to hold the weights on. Not that I was buying this for dumbbells god only knows I got enough of them but still would have been nice if they actually showed up -the giant screw used to hold the weights on the barbell are weird. Using them like shown in the photo will result in having to retighten them every 3 or 4 reps which is annoying. Oddly flipping them around eliminated this flaw entirely Overall great starter set for individuals starting to lift weights or for people looking to get back into shape like myself. I very quickly outgrew the bar due to using it to get back into shape but I will still keep it around as it is a very good little weight set that I can still use for some exercises or use as a warm up even though I have outgrown it more or less. I wouldn't push the barbell past the 200 pound mark even though I have taken it to 250 pounds, 200 is the most I would ever do safely on it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the girls and beginners! The lighter weighted bar makes it easier to use in our gym.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great to start with but.... I really liked this set when I bought it, lots of flexibility with varying your barbell weights, even going up 5 pounds at a time. But when my workout program started getting into more movement-based exercises (hang clean, power snatch, etc) the spin of the plates would cause the nut that is supposed to hold them in place to spin. Don't know if this is a problem for anyone else but I don't want to tighten the blasted thing after every 6 reps.
