Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think these are all about the installation I purchased an earlier version of these 10 years ago and just plain wore them out, weightlifting, cross fit, martial arts. I found that HOW they are installed makes a huge difference. They must MUST be on a solid surface, MUST be spaced off any walls by quite a bit as they expand and contract a ton, I used leftover edging cut to 3" long. I also used the best duct tape I could buy to tape the seams, on the underside. This is a bit of a pain because I had to install the floor twice, once to get the layout then flipped them over to tape the seams which can be done in groups of six. In my experience taping ALL the joints really helps it expand and contact as one unit. This new version has much better slip resistance and with extra effort looks great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not Great I made and 8" x 8" workout mat to support free weights and an ab machine. The pads make a good resiliant workout surface however they do not all fit together perfectly. The interlocking tabs between some of the panels are not cut exactly the same so they leave some small gaps between sections or push some sections together so they don't sit completely flat on the floor. Two of the sixteen sections I purchased are a slightly different thickness making a slightly uneven surface. I still like the product but think it could fit better considering the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage! I bought this to place under a small home gym, inside my home, on a carpeted floor. I placed the rough side down to keep it from sliding. The pieces fit together poorly and it slides on the carpet, thus causing the entire weight machine to move. The worst part is the fact that all of the edges curl up causing me to trip on them. Maybe the 3/4 inch thick pads (for double the cost) would have worked better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst quality for a major department sto I bought these mats to isolate my feet and body from my hard basement floor while practicing TKD and exercising. When I tried to put them together I found them to be different sizes and out of square making it impossible to interlock them. When I tried to interlock the second row of four tiles with the first row it was over an inch longer than the first. I measured individual tiles and found some a half inch different so when spread out over four tiles that would be a two inch difference making it impossible to connect them together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the Job Many reviews are stating 'it slides' or 'it breaks apart'...yeah, it's pretty evident from looking at the material and package that this isn't made to be some sort of cure-all for every athletic need you could imagine. What it does is provide protection for your floors...and that's really about it and it does that job well. The mats I use have almost no wear and tear after a year of 350+ deadlifts. They can absorb a dropped 45 easily and are fairly stable. My wood floors beneath them do not have a single scratch. However, they are squishy enough to NOT exercise directly on if you are a power lifter or getting into power lifting. For those types of lifts you probably would want something closer to a yoga mat which is thinner and has less 'squishy-ness' to it.As I only engage in limited cardio I cannot attest to its value but would imagine it to have a little too much 'give' to want to be jumping up and down on...and yeah, it's going to slid unless it's glued to the floor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Convert tile floor to wt. room floor Converted my library with tile floor to wts room, with wt. bench and dumbbells, plus 300lb. Olympic wt. set. This floor guard filled the bill. Thick and solid enough to do the trick. Some packages meshed better than others and some were lighter in color, but overall very satisfied.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It didn't fit what we needed it for. It was used on the floor under me when doing push-ups. It kept me from being directly against the hard floor. They kept on separating, breaking apart the floor mat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for cardio workouts It was recommended that I buy this as a shock pad for cardio workouts and it is horrible.Does not stay still, it slides and I fell several time.
