Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does exactly as it says, not fancy but does the job I bought this weight set a year ago, workout every other day, and can honestly say this was a good purchase. Is the bar fancy? No, but it gets the job done and never gave me problems. Are the weights fancy? No, but they are pretty close to their stated weights and do the job. Never felt unbalanced with them. This isn't a "show it off to everyone" set. This is a set for if you really want to get in shape and workout. Lifting heavy things and putting them back down is how you get muscle. These are some cheap heavy things for you to use. Get lifting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad Bar, Good Weights As many others have already stated, the bar is really low end. We have not experienced bending, however, we have experienced serious chrome flaking. To the point we actually get splinters if we are not careful! Our bar was the appropriate 45lbs, so we didn't have that issue, and if we can solve the splintering problem we will likely keep and continue to use the bar.The weights on the other hand are perfectly fine. Nothing tremendous in terms of quality, but they get the job done and you simply can't beat the price. Even if we end up tossing the bar, I would still consider this a good purchase because of the weights and the price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not olympic standard Know what you are getting. These plates are smaller diameter than standard plates which will cause issues if you plan on deadlifting, powerclean, or any other floor work. It is somewhat flase advertising to have them listed as olympic when they do not conform to standard dimensions. If you don't plan on doing any lifts from the floor then it should be fine. However the bar is only rated for 300lbs. I would even question this rating as my bar is bent in the middle and the max I have done is 250lb squats with it. If you are beginner, not putting up big weights, and dont plan on doing any floor lifts then this is a nice affordable set. If not you should invest in a a real olympic set.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some good, some bad The weight plates are easy to handle because of the handles. However, at least the 45 lb plates are smaller in outside diameter than normal plates. This usually isn't a problem, but the plates all have a larger than 2" opening in the middle, which means they are a bit loose on the bar. So for lifts where you set the bar on the ground, the plates do not stay flat but lean to the side. You really need to utilize the clamp to hold them together, but it would be nice if the inside of the plates was smooth against the bar and a closer fit. I have not used more than 225 lbs on the bar - I use a different bar for 300+ lb deadlifts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lack of grip on bar in lift area Was pumped to work out with equipment. once I pulled the bar out of its protective container, I noticed that the grip on the bar was lacking what the display bar grip had. So I went back to store and compared with the display set and noticed that my bar did not have the level of cross thread . I spoke with an employee ( whom was helpful) about it and showed him the bar and he exchanged the bar for a new one. The new bar had more grip tjham the one I originally purchased but still lacked what the display had. I would recommend this product more highly had I not had to exchange and make an extra trip back to the store; and As long as sufficient grip on bar .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the set I decided to setup a home gym for convenience and also to avoid busy gyms. So far, I haven't found other deals that can best this price. The bar is standard and the plates fit just fine on it. For an amateur weight lifter like me, this was perfect and maybe as I become more experienced, I can look into ways to upgrade. Otherwise, I'm aiming to be using this weight set for many years. Also, I purchased online and picked up the product in store to save on shipping. The store associate helped me move the weight set to my car and I was able to fit everything within my sedan (just gotta put down the back seats to make room for the bar). I do suggest moving it indoors with one other person, the 45lbs weight package (90 lbs total) is hefty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality set at a great price. I've been scouting a new olympic weight set for the past few weeks. They typically run around 450 dollars for a decent 300LB set. Even at the higher price range, the reviews were hit and miss. Then I looked at Dicks. I didn't go to them first because I never took them for a weight lifting retailer, but more golf and baseball. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this set on their website at this price point. Looked at online inventory at my local store at went there at lunchtime to buy it. They loaded my car up for me and off I went. Went home and set it up and went back to work. All within an hour. I am a Dicks Sporting Goods fan now. Great set at a great price.
