The sliding shorts provides padding on the hip and leg. I was pleased to see the hip padding should help reduce any direct hits from a baseball pitch. The shorts come in two Youth sizes: Small/Medium and Large/XLarge. Small/Medium was more on the small side. Large/Xlarge is more on a medium side. Fit and comfort are not rated since the product has not been used at the time of the review.
