Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hooray for my Back! I work in a computer lab with elementary students and really needed a stool that would provide active sitting as well as let me be mobile to work with students in various spots in my room. This stool is perfect! It was VERY easy to put together (and that is not my forte). It is comfortable to sit on and really helps with an acute injury I sustained to my back. The adjustments up and down make it nice for me when I have a chance to work at my desk. I use it all the time! I am VERY happy with my purchase and am considering purchasing another one for my office.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Proceed with extreme caution I purchased this chair for my workstation. It is possible to sit with your core engaged if you are consciously thinking about it, but that has not been my experience - because it does not have a firm back I am more hunched over than in a typical chair. I am extremely fit - distance runner, cyclist, etc. Nonetheless, after a few weeks I developed persistent, low-grade lower-back pain (which I had never had before) and it contributed to an overall weakness in my hips that has now resulted in a nasty hip flexor strain. My excellent sports DPT attributed some of the cause to the chair and recommends firm-back chairs only. I would actively dissuade anyone from purchasing this chair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not an all-day option When I first got this I thought it was great. It takes up little space and doesn't take long to get used to. But I've been using it for several months now and I've grown tired of it. First and foremost, it just isn't very comfortable to sit on for more than a half hour. It seriously wears on my buttocks, especially sitting directly on top. I give them credit that it is well made. My advice, if you want a desk setup that is healthier than a standard chair, spend the extra money and set up your desk so that you can stand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall happy with the stool This stool was very easy to assemble and inflate. Despite some aesthetic inferiorities, (rubber not fully coating seat bottom, burrs in female threads, rubber flashing on edges not cleaned off), the stool operates and functions as expected. Though the quality was not what I have come to expect from Gaiam, since the poor aesthetics ultimately did not adversely effect the assembly or function, overall I'm happy with this purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not too long When you get this stool, please don't sit on it too long. I did and couldn't move my back for the next week. When I sit too long on it my legs fall asleep, so that's another downfall. If you're careful, keep you're feet planted firmly on the ground and don't sit too long, it works well!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple and helpful I've been searching for a desk chair that will encourage me to sit upright when on my computer and won't take up much space in a small room. Exercise ball is too low and bulky. This stool is great! Adjusts just high enough, keeps me upright, rolls easily on carpet, even stores under the desk. I had to work a bit to put it together (I'm not mechanically inclined), but all that was needed was included and I did figure it out. Note: you push the castors/wheels straight in even though it feels like that won't work. I highly recommend the stool. A softer color would be nice, though.
