Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my ball chair! Has helped my back tremendously. I sit at a desk at work most of the day and could never get comfortable. I tried almost every chair in our building, trying to find one that did not make my back hurt by the end of the day. I was skeptical that an inexpensive rubber ball and plastic "chair" could be comfortable, but after using it for one day I felt immediate relief. This chair is amazing. I love everything about my ball chair. The only "negative" is that when I fart, the sound bounces off the rubber and makes a loud slapping sound, and I worry that everyone in my office can hear it. It doesn't sound like a typical fart, though, so everyone probably wonders what I am up to in here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Core Strength Posture My interest in the balanceball chair began with the knowledge that core strength is all about posture. So, I purchased my ball chair for my home office. Sitting on the ball chair encourages me to sit up and take notice of my posture at all times. Whenever I tire of sitting up straight in my chair, I do small bounces up and down to stimulate the immune system. The Desktop Guide book that comes with the chair has some very beneficial stretches and movements. I like that the chair is lightweight, and that the ball can be removed to do a workout and then be replaced back in the chair out of the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back Relief and Ab Workout The chair needed a week of  increased air volume.  I have no problem with the leg locks.   The plastic structure is very sturdy and secure.  The back rest is really a handle for the workout.  I get significant low back relief on this ball chair especially after time in the "decliner".   My upper back is getting stronger and the burn is reducing. It is great right now at a card table, or just watching the tube.  I'm not working so I don't spend many hours plugged into the chair at the computer.   Just sitting on it makes me sit up straight ( I need that) and strengthen Abs is always good. Be clear on what your need is and add more air until it is firm. Namaste

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helped my sore back and shoulders! I bought this chair to use as my main desk chair since  I started working from home. It is very comfortable and a big improvement over the chair I used at the office. It is also fun to "bounce" while I am on hold or "thinking". It seems to remind me to move around during the day instead of staying in one place.  The ball is smaller than my exercise ball (which is 65 cm), so I don't remove it for exercise.  I do use the book it came with to do  exercises with the ball in the frame. This is a  healthy chair, and much better for you than  a normal desk chair. I am very happy with this purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from size discrepancy 5 stars for the intention and purpose of the chair. 2 stars deducted due to (A) the nozzle for the included pump not staying in place when inflating the ball. (B) the ball when inflated is measuring 45cm vs 52cm per item description (C) Small tear in the outer layer of the ball .I purchased the Gaiam Balance ball chair from The Sports Authority for a Christmas gift. After finally getting the ball inflated it appears to be smaller than advertised and does not fit in the chair as depicted - there is about a 2 inch gap between the ball and the front bar. The size discrepancy makes the chair too low for me to use with the desk in my home office.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from puzzling item This is called a "custom fit" balance ball "chair".  It does have a balance ball, but there is no custom fitting involved, or fitting of any kind.  Nor is it a chair.  It could be called "balance ball stool."   That back-rest seeming part (indeed, it was called a backrest by the staff person who spoke to me) is not intended to touch or support your back.  Maybe it's like a handle, to easily move the stool around?   If you want to sit on a balance ball, and have it in a stand rather than rolling around out of reach when you turn you back, this would do it.  I was expecting a seat that could be adjusted to suit me, and had some back support,  so I returned it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Change I've been using this chair for a couple of weeks now, the 1st week I had some lower back pain but I also didn't realize you were supposed to "ease" into it for a few hours at a time. After the 1st week, I've been able to sit on it all day without any pain (8 hours/day). I now notice when I'm sitting in my car or at the dinner table how much more I "slump" compared then how I sit on my Balance Ball Chair at work. I am a 5'11 female & although it's a good height for my desk I feel like my legs are too long for it, I may consider purchasing the extenders in the near future to see if it makes my leg position any more comfortable. Very easy to put together & love the fun green color!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable but needs improvements! I absolutly LOVE this chair and get wonderful comments on it at work. I purchased this chair in March '11 and to date have had to call about the wheels. I have had them lock from just sitting in it! I have called and customer service replaced them everytime I needed new ones. I called today because a non-locking wheel broke again and Gaiam is out of wheels and is redoing its design of the chair! Of course this made me happy and sad...looking forward to the redesign but am desperatly needing wheels for my chair. My advice is to WAIT till the new chair comes out and hopefully they have fixed the issues!!!
