Rated 2 out of 5 by RuralNYC from Highly portable, but very scratchy I purchased this travel mat for a summer's worth of travel without any yoga studios nearby. It did fold easily into any size I needed it to be, but packing it was far more enjoyable than using it. The mat itself is quite rough on the hands and on any other skin that comes in contact with it -- it uses roughness rather than "stick" to keep you from slipping. And yet I still slipped. In the end, I did my yoga on regular rugs, and left this folded in the suitcase. I love the idea of a travel mat, but the execution -- at least in this one -- left something to be desired. It was a sad miss of the mark from Gaiam, which usually has such stellar products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by ella629 from Not suitable for hot yoga at all I purchased this mat to sit on top of my regular yoga mat during hot yoga practice. The packaging said that this travel mat was ideal for hot yoga, so I assumed it would be perfect. However, this was not the case. During my practice, the travel mat constantly comes out of place and dramatically bunches up on top of my other mat. Also, this mat does not provide significant traction, so I am constantly slipping and fighting against his mat during class. The mat worked great for maybe 4-5 classes and now it is nothing but a nuisance. I've been very disappointed in this purchase and will not be using this mat in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lers from Love this mat I love this mat. It travels wonderfully and I also use it at the club. I have never used it over another mat because I like the discipline of being light on my hands, knees and feet. It gives me the best balance of any matt because I am in touch with the floor. If my hands and feet are too dry, I slip a little, but have learned to raise up more through my core to reduce this. As I heat up, my feet and hands sweat and grip better too. I use it about 4 times a week. This is a great mat! Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by YogiG from Awesome & Practical Since I travel a lot, I need something that is both light, thin, durable and easy to pack. If that is what you're looking for, this is the mat for you. I love that it has both the grippy side (that works on most surfaces including hotel carpets) and the softer side which somehow keeps me from slipping yet is nice to the touch. I also love that it can serve as a mat topper (towel) for the hotter classes. I have tried other travel mats, but this one is my favorite by far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Someonehasmynickname from Doesn't stay put on the mat I laid this towel out on top of my yoga mat when my mat became too slippery. I kept having to straighten it out. It kept bunching up and moving around. I was hoping that with the rubber bottom this would not happen, but it did, which ruined my practice. I have used other brands which have worked, so I know it's not me. I will not be using this product again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ashley from great mat towel! I have this mat towel and I rarely have it slide around, even after several washes. And it is very absorbent so I don't feel like I'm laying in my own sweat at the end of practice. It does, however slide around a lot if the rubber backing is wet at all so I leave it to hang dry at least overnight and it hasn't let me down yet! I have used it for hot yoga six days a week for the past 3 months and I wash it once a week. My only complaint is that the sides are starting to fray a bit more than I would like and I don't see this mat towel lasting much longer than a year of consistent practice. Overall, it's much better than any other mat towel I've used.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Yogi Kodes from Washing instructions don't help Towel stuck perfectly to my mat and didn't budge even in hot yoga when I first used it . HOWEVER after washing according to instructions the towel lost most of the grip and kept shifting to the point where I almost gave up on it. I tried washing it just on cold wash with no detergent the next time just to check if the soap was causing the loss of grip, and while it wasn't crazy sticky like before it was washed, it did become grippy enough to be useful again. So if your mat isn't gripping try wash by itself, cold, no detergent (you can wash with detergent before if it really needs).

Rated 4 out of 5 by YogiNYC from A does-it-all yoga mat I'm an RYT, so I love that this mat is so light and "packable" so that I can maintain my practice while I'm on the road. Used on its own, this mat's cushioning is minimal, so I find I use it more often as an extra layer over my yoga mat - its absorbency makes it especially great for Hot Yoga classes. Easy to wash, too.
