Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Gift For his Birthday, I'd bought my Dad the Garmin G3, but there were several features that made it less than satisfying. Sent that machine back and purchased the G6 and my Dad is sooooo happy. The screen is bright, the charge holds for multiple games, it's easy to use, the tap-screen feature is easy to use. He is very pleased. Very well worth the extra money for a much better machine. He's had is about a month now and is still excited about all of it's features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This is my second year using the G6 and it is a great tool. It is excellent in changing holes automatically and I love the scorecard feature. It is very accurate and excellent showing greens. Love the front, middle, and back feature on the greens. The fact that it has 25,000 courses loaded is another great feature. If you are looking for a great product, this is it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Garmin G6 This product has all the features I need. The problem is the 2 main Features the yardage, and the pin placement do not work as they should. Example: When trying to move the "Flag" on the Green (with your finger)you can not position the flag, sometimes it moves, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it moves to far, it is very difficult to Position.Sometimes the yardage comes up wrong when showing the Green, this requires going back to the Fairway view then back to the green mode, sometimes severalTimes. Both the problems slow play and can become very irritating, especialy whenConsidering the $300.00 price tag!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Bought this product for my wife. She had a previous gps from another manufacturer that had no end of problems - wouldn't turn on, would freeze up etc. We used the Garmin several times now with no issues. This unit find the course very quickly and works the entire round. It is easy to use and numbers are clear and easy to read. So far we are very happy and I am considering buying another one for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is fantastic I have had the opportunity to use my Garmin Approach G6 locally and in Florida. It worked great. The cours we played in Florida were all pre loaded and the accurcy was amazing. The G6 has helped mgame a great deal. It has also help improve my ability to judge distance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Golfing GPS I recently bought the Garmin Approach G6 to help me with my distances on the golf course. It is easy to use and has some great features, such as the built in scorecard and the ability to move the pin to the current location on the green. The Garmin Approach G6 has a ton of golf courses already loaded on it. All of my local courses are available and I get great signal all of the time. The setup was easy and must be done online prior to using the device for the first time. The best feature about this device is no monthly or annual fee like the other golf GPS devices that I researched.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommend! Very easy to use and not bulky, fits in pocket. Very precise with yardages. Battery last a very long time. Easy to read even with my old eyes. And it's free to use!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Second one works great The first one I got failed after one round. My local store replaced with no problem. The second device works great. It is quick, accurate and easily readable. The Garmin G6 has been a great addition to my game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Golf Aid I never have to estimate the distance to the greens again. A lot of courses are missing the yardage markers, and since I can't afford a professional caddie, this is the next best item. The only draw back is now everyone wants me to tell them their yardage, and that kinda slows down the game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from On point and accurate! I was impressed when my Garmin and an I-phone would be only 1 yd. different while a higher priced GPS was often as much as 10 yds. different and appeared to be off! It is difficult to find courses that are not included. However while wearing it on my belt with a heavy shirt hanging over it, the screen would randomly change modes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have enjoyed using this product. It has been easy to learn to operate the G6. Only took one or two uses to get comfortable with this. One of my courses is not included but have contacted Garmin and already had a positive response from them about adding the course.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! What a great way to know the exact yardage to the pin. You're able to adjust the pin location and determine lay up yardage and it will calculate your next shot yardage. It has had every course on it and it's very reliable. My golf buddy always wants his yardage calculated too. His phone has an app for that. Very pleased with the purchase. I've also downloaded all my rounds to my PC to show my improvement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from not quite there yet I like the product but sometimes it freezes up. I have to turn it off and restart it. Also have a hard time getting it to go from one hole to the next manually.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exceeds expectations Bought the GPS because of playing courses during the winter in Florida that aren't equipped for my older laser unit. Bought the Garmin for two reasons: one; have a Garmin in my vehicle and two; no annual fee. Love rechargable battery - usually play three rounds before putting it on charge: even then, it still shows 30% to 35% charge. Don't use all the features yet but like the "measure" feature to see how far I'm hitting particular shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Met and exceeded expectations. Had to buy a second GPS golf thing so my wife and I wouldn't have to discuss who would use it when we did not play together. Heard about the Garmin from a brother in law - decided to buy it with no additional research - Garmin has a good reputation. It's good - has more functions than I use at this time. The course selection comes up when I'm ready to tee off, the yardage to the hole is immediate apparent, also to the hazards as well as changing the pin location to get accurate distances. Beats trying to focus through an eye piece at the flag. Good system, would recommend it highly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You will like it. Upon turning the unit on at the course, give it a few seconds to "acquire" the location. Then touch "play". You will like it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works like a charm! Used a Leupold rangefinder a few times and had problems reading the flag from distances of more than 100 yards, so I tried the Approach G6. It does what I need it to do...give me accurate readings. I went with the small G6 because it fits nicely in my pocket. It comes with a belt clip, but I shied away from using it when my buddy lost his unit from his clip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great aid for golf courses Very Helpful for courses that are not marked well and even a good tool for courses that are marked well. I like it!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cracked face after 2 uses after using it for 2 days the face cracked-not scratched-cracked-unsure of how it happened. not abused in any way. returned to Dicks where purchased. Too bad. Face is not warranted. This is a touch screen device. What am I supposed to do? Send it back myself to Garmin. For you guessed it $100 dollars for a brand new device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best GPS Rangefinder Available I don't write many reviews, and that's probably because if something works really well, I feel it should. Or if it fails my expectations, it doesn't surprise me anymore. That said, The Garmin Approach G6 is simply one of those products that so greatly exceeds my expectations, I have to write a review on it. For several years I've primarily used a laser rangefinder, though for convenience sake I keep trying every new GPS that comes along…hoping I'll find the Holy Grail of yardages in an easy-to-use GPS product. In the past decade I've tried every model of SkyCaddie ever manufactured, including the latest SGXw. I've tried the Golf Buddy Platinum, a Bushnell, GPS watches, but nothing holds a candle to the Garmin G6…nothing! All the others found their way to [@] at a great loss of money! One of the inherent features of the G6 is its simplicity. The obvious front, middle and back yardages are always present, but if you desire a distance from you to a water hazard, or sand trap, etc., the touchscreen is so responsive and easy to use I still can't believe it. If you want layup distances, you can drag the cursor to the distance you want, or simply look at the screen and see they are also automatically displayed at 100, 150, 200 and 250 yard arcs from the center of the green. At any time, you can press one of two buttons (more simplicity) on the G6 and see an expanded view of the green, or press it again and go back to the hole view. That might seem like a minor point, but so many of the other devices make this action more difficult. My last point about the Garmin G6 is the most important…to me, anyway. It is SO VISIBLE…even in bright sunlight. In fact, because of how the screen is made, it's even more visible in the sunlight. I had mine set for the backlight to go off after 15 seconds, yet every time I looked at it on the course, the screen was very bright and readable. I thought there was something wrong with it and the backlight was staying on, but in fact, the backlight was actually going off as it should, but having it on simply made no difference. The display was as easy to read with the backlight on or off. On a cloudy or overcast day, the backlight does come into play and makes a marked difference. If you're on the fence about a GPS unit, please do yourself a favor and give the Garmin G6 a try. If you don't like it you can always return it, but I'm betting that will not happen. And don't forget, it has over 27,000 courses pre-loaded and there are no fees at all. You can also update the courses easily online with it hooked up to your computer (Mac or Windows). One more thing: a couple of reviews I've read said the Garmin G6 was slow acquiring courses before you started play. I have not found that to be true at all. In all cases my unit acquires the satellite in less than a minute or two.About me: retired, five rounds per week, 7-handicap, 66 years old.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Screen frozen during 3rd round Screen froze on 4th hole of only my 3rd round of golf, rendering unit inoperative, no touch screen, could not even turn unit off. Waited overnight for battery to die, then charged it, recalibrated, appears OK for now, will have to try a round of golf to confirm proper operation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great This product not only provides the distance to the green (front, Center & rear) but also any trouble and allows planning layup landing spots on par 5s.
Date published: 2012-07-10
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small and easy to carry. I like the fact that the Garmin Approach G6 is charged the same way you charge your smart phone - by plugging it into an electrical outlet. You can play two rounds of golf without charging it again. The display is large enough to see when you switch to "green." Not having to download courses, which is what I had to do with a different brand, makes it quick and easy to use.
Date published: 2012-07-07
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Accurate but changes modes My first golf GPS unit, played 2 rounds, still getting used to it. Very accurate, but keeps going to the scoring screen automatically after a few seconds. Battery life is good for 2 rounds. Touch screen is easy to use, but find myself having to get out of the scoring screen almost every hole. Do not know if this is a glitch or I am causing this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from thought i could download courses this is a good product, seem's to be accurate .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact size and touch screen are winner Great for first time play on a course. Provides accurate yardage to hazards and carry distance required. I have yet to utilize all the features available like storing average club distances.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great short game helper. It's slow to responed shen adjusting the pin on the green side view, when it it adjusted, it does help to know the front, middle and back of the green. Can get two full rounds out one battery charge.
Date published: 2012-05-23
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Battery indicator Just to let everyone know, there is a battery indicator. Once you have it on, press the on button just a little and a main screen will show. It shows you the screen brightness, satellite bars and your battery indicator.
Date published: 2012-04-13
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Battery Life Works OK, but no battery indication. Advertised as 15 hours of batt life but lasted about 6. Died in the middle of the second round.
