Rated 3 out of 5 by from GOOD FOR YARDAGES Have played 5 rounds with the Garmin approach s20. The yardage seems to be pretty accurate on the course. I have used it to measure and record my shots, have downloaded the garmin connect app to my android phone, have not been able to transfer the info from watch to phone, I don't what I am doing wrong. Also the buttons are a little aggravating to scroll back and forth using the shot tracking feature. However it's fine to determine distances on the course. I would have given 4 stars if I could download the rounds on my phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use. Very accurate! I really like this GPS. I looked a bunch of product reviews. I wanted something that was fast, accurate, and didn’t slow down my golf game with gadgetry. I am there to play golf not computer. This fits the bill perfectly. The three distances are spot on. I have checked against laser rangefinder. Hazard distances are helpful. You can keep score which is nice and it can tell you the distances you hit your shots all without getting in the way. Very thin an light. Some other devices are very clunky. There are a lot of online features that I do not use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I recently purchased the Garmin Approach S20 online without knowing anyone who had actually used one, so I was a bit reluctant. It had many of the features I was looking for in a GPS golf watch, but I had read several reviews about it that were less than complimentary. I just recently bought the watch, so I have only used it twice while playing a round of golf, and I must say I am pleased...so far. The watch has many great features, so there is a learning curve to getting comfortable with using it while playing golf. However, it seems to be living up to how it is marketed. My advice - don't be in a hurry to "master" the watch. Take time to learn how to use it and I think you will find it a great asset to your golf game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what I bought it for!! I have a range finder that 'shoots' the pin position. I bought this watch to be able to know the front of the green, back of the green, yardages for hazards, layup distances, measure club yardages, etc. It works perfect for what I bought it for. I can select the correct and know that I am ready to execute the shot. I have used it four times and feel very comfortable with the usage. It is reliable and the distances are spot on. I recommend this product to anyone that wants to have the information to play better golf and lower their scores.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product for it's main golf related features...so so for everything else I'm giving the Garmin S20 watch 5 stars because overall it does the golf gps thing very well...probably the best and most accurate out of all its competitors. I love that it changes the F, M, B between where I'm at on the course and not just from middle of fairway like many other brands do. Among the features I'd rate 5 stars are the the main front, middle, back distances (very accurate on my courses compared w/ markers and laser rangefinder), hazard distances, layup distances, size/comfort as a watch, battery life, score keeping and most stats work very well. The smart notifications work pretty well too, although that's not a main concern of mine. I've only used Autoshot detection one round, but it actually worked pretty well. I liked being able to assign which club I hit and seeing it layed out over a birds eye view of each fairway on the app was cool. I read a lot of forums about this watch and thankfully by March of 2017 when I purchased many of the initial software issues have been resolved (software version 3.30). However, there are a few things I'd only rate 3 or 4 stars. The non-golf activity tracking stuff like steps seems pretty off. I have not entered custom stride info, but just as a pedometer I think it's lacking. I bought this watch to sort of replace a vivofit 2 that broke (which was really good at step tracking) and this S20 doesn't seem to register nearly as many steps...it just doesn't seem as accurate. The measure shot feature works ok, but not as well as I wish it did. On the garmin g10 you push a button to start measuring a shot...on the s20 it automatically senses your swing to set your starting point, which would be awesome if it recognized your shot every time...if it doesn't there's no way to tell it you took a shot. It just restarts the distance every time it thinks you took a shot. It picked up many of my shots throughout my round, but when I want to measure a particular shot I'm just hoping it works...not ideal. The Connect App is probably 4 stars...the info is good and I like the stats I get to see, but I wish it was easier to edit from the app. It displays most data I'm interested in, but it's not very intuitive and I can't find pieces of data that would be easy for it to keep (example: what's my average 7 iron distance? from a particular round or from my last 5 rounds, etc). I like the watch, but only because it excels at the few main golf related things I really wanted to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have Outstanding gps watch! I've used it twice now and the yardages are spot on!! Especially love that it also marks out the hazards. This made the decision for me on either laying up or going for it. I cleared the water both times without worry. This accessory on the course will save on all of the guessing!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Meets expectations I've used this about 4 times. The first time I used it, it wasn't reliably automatically advancing to the next holes. It took me a little bit to figure out how to manually advance it since I didn't have the instructions with me. However, after that initial use, it has worked great. It does last more than one round on a charge so that's a good thing. Yardage is slightly longer than a friend's GPS but it's consistent. So I can plan my shots accordingly. I've very happy with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too many problems After 4 days of calls to Garmin with problems returned watch to Dicks for replacement. New watch lasted 1 day and quit working after being fully charged. They have way too many bugs to work out on this watch and when you call Garmin for help no one seems to specialize on the watch so it takes forever to walk thru issues that never get fully resolved. Love the concept and really want it to work but so far this watch has proven to be a time suckered with nothing but issues!
