With its minimal weight and compact packed size, the InReach has been the long-coveted solution for communicating from the backcountry and having piece of mind in case anything should go awry. Thankfully, I haven't had an emergency since getting it, but the messaging has been clutch. Good choice for experts or novices alike.

Must-have For Emergencies

This is a must-have item for any emergencies on the trail. My family and I use this even when just traveling on long, rural road trips for peace of mind for even a simple flat tire situation. Only downside is having to pay the activation fee and monthly subscription on top of the device, but you can pause the monthly fee for up to 12 months on a single activation fee.

Probably the best satellite communicator out there. Still leaves quite a bit to be desired, especially in the Garmin apps. The Garmin ecosystem is incredibly obtuse quiring multiple applications. In order to keep the device up and running. Additionally the pay plan is kind of stupid expensive.

I Like The App.

This unit does what I need it to on my bike trip. I can let key people know when I start & stop cycling for the day. It also updates my location for anyone who I give the map page too so they can see where I am hourly. Also, the app shows my location and the GDMBR I am following. I can't navigate with it but it does show me if I am off track or not. It's saved me some wrong turns numerous times. Size, weight & durability are all amazing.

Easy To Use, Sense Of Safety

I recently bought my InReach Mini2 for a Colorado Trail bikepacking adventure. My family was thrilled with my daily checkins. And I used the weather updates regularly to guard against ending up above tree line in a lightning storm. The app interface on my phone was easy to use and it worked as expected everytime.
