Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting and convertable bait Truthfully I prefer these in laminate colors and sometimes the larger size, both of which DSG does not sell as far as I know. But this bait is pretty versatile as it comes it appears as a "beaver style" bait that is so popular in recent times and if the flat middle two appendages a.k.a tails are removed or at least thinned down, it makes a robust yet somewhat subtle crawfish imitator. It works well on it's own or rigged as a jig trailer (which I like to do the most do to the delicate nature of Yamamoto's soft plastic formula), either way all kinds of bass have a hard time resisting this bait.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yamamoto...ridiculously easy/effective!! If you can't catch fish with this bait, There are two things that could be thought. 1) there are no fish in the water you're fishing or 2) get a new hobby. I use this pitching and flipping around channels and rock banks and the bass just keep coming after it like none other. The only other soft plastic I've used with results even close to this is another Yamamoto, the good ol senko. The only reason I rate 4 instead of 5 is because I MIGHT get 3-4 fish out of one lure so durability is an issue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Effective bait, but not resilient or inexpensive The Flappin' Hog is a great bait for bass almost any time of the year, and it works well. As with most Gary Yamamoto products, though, by virtue of the salt that creates the great action, they do not hold up for more than a fish or two. The other downside is the price. You're paying about a buck per craw. For the price and effectiveness, I prefer the Gambler BB Cricket, Zoom Speed Craw and Yum Mighty Bug. If you can afford to go through them, it will catch you fish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Jig Trailer I was fishing with a buddy who was absolutely embarrassing me on my home lake. I knew he had some sort of creature bait on his jig, so I switched mine. After more snide remarks from my partner ( & several more bass), he finally threw me the Flappin' Hog. I'm not sure if it is the action, the salt or both, but I soon was matching him fish for fish. This bait is now my go-to trailer. You may pay a little more for Yamamoto, but you get a lot more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This bait works..PERIOD! Love this bait, I flip pitch it on boat docks/laydowns/mats etc, rigged with a 3/0 straight shank flippin' hook w/ a 1/4 to 3/8 oz flippin weight pegged and it crushes Bass, also like to "drag" this bait along the bottom in crayfish infested ponds and lakes in my area, they cant help but inhale it! the only downside is they only last for a fish or 2 depending on the size and they are pricey

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome jig trailer! I've been using the flappin hogs as jig trailers for years and I still havent been able to find a more effective option. They just flat out catch bass, and usually quality ones at that. The only drawbacks are the same as the other Yamamoto baits: durability and cost, but they truly work better than anything else I've tried

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I've had this in my tackle box for a while and was waiting for the right time to use it. I found a nice creek off the bay with a lot of cover and stuck it on a brown jig. I pulled 4 big largemouth in within 8-10 minutes. Use as a trailer on a similar color jig in clear water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for off color water This bait is a must in situations that put bass tight to cover in off color water. The profile of the bait puts off a lot of vibration and softness of the bait makes it feel more life like.
