The Bushcraft Hatchet addresses two primary needs: starting fire and building shelter. The ergonomic design reduces weight and improves grip for long haul use, and the blade features machined relief for deeper cuts.

One Person's Opinion
This hatchet has good weight (about 2 lbs) and the grip is good. I like the features that are built into the handle (paracord, place to hold a lighter, etc.) I am supremely disappointed that the hatchet blade is the **dullest blade edge** that I have ever received as a new item as a knife, multi-tool, or hatchet. Gerber is beginning to lose its way as a company.

This is my second Gerber axe/hatchet & this version is even better than the first 1 I bought. The longer handle and arched shape give a more efficient splitting force. I use this for preparing fire wood for my wood burning stove.

I used this the first day I got it to split firewood logs into kindling pieces and it worked great

I have been happy with the hatchet. The price and the product were worth it

The blade out of the box is fairly dull and requires immediate sharpening before use. Even more frustrating is that the storage compartment does not stay fastened often becomes jarred loose by the simplest of swings. The Gerber brand does instill confidence historically but this product has considerably fallen short of my expectations.

Picked up this hatchet on the way out of town on the first camp trip this year. I knew there was still snow and the trip would be cold so we would use a lot of wood. My previous wood handle hatchet had the wedge fly out while using and when repaired the steel cracked so I taught a molded handle could be nice. When I pitched this I didn’t know there were pieces hiding in the handle and was pleasantly surprised on first use. All the cuts were in dead pinion pine wood and did ok but had to use some extra force. While cutting the bottom clip and spring fell out. I found the clip but not the spring. When the cutting surface was examined there were pieces of steel folded over. I will sharpen this and use it until it falls apart. It should last but might have to be sharpened more often. I think the junk in the handle makes this tool weaker and is more of a trinket.

A high quality piece of equipment. Good design with extras. Nice to have the storage space in the handle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was sent this from influenster to review. I really enjoyed using this and it came in very handy when I was camping a few weeks back. It's very portable and easy to take with you. It's not too heavy but it definitely is great for getting some extra firewood. The cover keeps it nice and safe and I love the little lighter holder in the handle.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband liked it, he hasn’t been able to use it yet since camping season has ended for us. He really liked the additional add on pieces as well. He’s looking forward to taking in on a fall camp trip he has planned with his dad. Can’t say how it performs yet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best Hatcher ever. This is a really nice tool. It reminds me of a piece of art. It would also make a good gift. The quality is there - solid and sharp. Not too heavy which makes it portable to take with you on outdoor adventures where you might need firewood.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very nice lightweight and convenient ergonomic rubber comfort grip. The blade is machined to help with deeper cuts. It also has a hammer head and over strike guard for safety. My favorite feature is in the handle. It has a storage section when you take out the handle with a paracord included and a space for a lighter. Its great to add other fire starting needs. The cover for the blade is really nice and easy to put on and take off. The hanging hole is good for storage. We will use to chop wood for our backyard firepit. This is good for campers as well as home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was so excited when this hatchet came in the mail! I loved the way the handle felt in my hands. It’s big enough to handle tasks but manageable enough to fit in limited space areas. My favorite part about this product was the high quality blade cover for safety. Great product 10/10!
