Picked up this hatchet on the way out of town on the first camp trip this year. I knew there was still snow and the trip would be cold so we would use a lot of wood. My previous wood handle hatchet had the wedge fly out while using and when repaired the steel cracked so I taught a molded handle could be nice. When I pitched this I didn’t know there were pieces hiding in the handle and was pleasantly surprised on first use. All the cuts were in dead pinion pine wood and did ok but had to use some extra force. While cutting the bottom clip and spring fell out. I found the clip but not the spring. When the cutting surface was examined there were pieces of steel folded over. I will sharpen this and use it until it falls apart. It should last but might have to be sharpened more often. I think the junk in the handle makes this tool weaker and is more of a trinket.
