Great for cooking at the campsite, or eating on the trails, the GSI Outdoors® Essential Long Spoon is lightweight and easy to add to your pack. A tapered, silicone edge allows scraping and scooping from the bottom of a food pouch or the inside of a pot. A long handle keeps you at a safe distance from the heat of your stove.

They are a great spoon. The long length helps get to the bottom and the silicone lip gets the sides clean. The spoon bowl is not so massive one can't get it in their mouth but it still gives one a good size serving The light weight is a plus. Would be nice if they brought back the shorter length. It seems wrong to have to trim the handle down

The very best silicone spoon on the market. Second time purchasing after a rodent nibbled my 10 year old one. Opted for the extra long handle for those deep jar scraps of yogurt or sea moss. Could not find a different brand equivalent.
Great spoon, I really like them due to being able to really clean out a cook pot or dehydrated meal on trail. Also they don’t make a horrid noise when actually cooking in a cook pot on trail. I do however dislike how they fall apart. When hiking the Appalachian Trail, the edges would become torn pretty quick. One lasted about 800 miles but it was really torn up by that point. But for the price they sell the spoon for on their site, I couldn’t complain. The people selling them along the trail were ripping people off in my opinion due to them being over double the cost. If I were to offer any advice though, it would be to thin out the spoon a little bit. Compared to a titanium spoon/spork, these are crazy thick. I do understand there is a durability and longevity tolerance as to why they are built the way that they are. But I see some other possibilities with this spoon to improve on it to allow it to be a little thinner and have a bit more durability possibly. Over all though great spoon to the point I purchased two more from here to replace the one I tore up and the one I lost on trail. It is disappointing not being able to purchase this through REI, but I have found a common theme with REI and they don’t ever seem to get the best products to be distributed via their company. This product is one of a handful that validate my belief of the best gear is held back from REI. And what gear they can sell or distribute that is great gear is online only with no store stock. If this is ever sold via REI, I hope the GSI get paid well for allowing them to stock it in their store.

Length of the spoon and the silicon tip are perfect for MREs and other similarly bagged foods. I've used it on several field exercises and rotations with no issues. Just make sure you keep the silicon part clean otherwise it'll smell like your last meal.

Overall, I love essential spoon long. I've gotten a few over the years (none have broken, just wanted more) because they are very versatile. I appreciate the length for keeping my hands clean/clear of heat or dirt, and the edge of the spoon is great for cleaning off cookware afterwards. I have also started using this spoon for mixing my sourdough starter in tall jars :)

It’s a long spoon. A spoon that is long. Do you need a long spoon withs flexible silicon concave end? Then this is the spoon for you.

Love this spoon! Great length to get into pouch meals, and the silicone coating is awesome for stirring in a cook pot with worrying about scratching it.

I used this spoon for several years both at home and outdoors and found it to be extremely convenient. It doesn't damage non-stick cookware coating and doesn't get retain heat after being submerged in hot food. It might get stained with some types of food like chili sauce or turmeric, but it doesn't affect the function at all. I've got three more recently to have a spare just in case.
