As others have mentioned it has a nice quality thick compression that keeps the chest in place BUT it doesn't feel like it's smothering you. Love that I don't need a bra with it! Holy grail of hiking! I bought this on a whim and I'm glad I did. It is super thick and feels like a quality piece. The functionality of the piece is the best part. I wore this in Toledo, Spain on a 105 degree day, in straight sunlight all day, walking about 10 miles- and I never once felt overly hot and sweaty or uncomfortable.
