We purchased this bag for high school, where none of the kids use a locker, and everything they need- they carry around all day. Haven’t used it yet, but the size and multiple compartments look like this will do the job. We have used High Sierra backpacks since Kindergarten, with one lasting K-5, the second 6-8, and both are still in great condition! (We just buy new when the kids advance to the next school)

Purchased backpack for travel with the matching 2 wheel carryon duffel bag. They match perfectly. Negatives: The backpack has a very stiff back and this makes it hard for me to attach it to the duffel handle utilizing the sleeve. The straps fit very close to the neck so this may make it very uncomfortable. The side straps are annoying and have to be threaded through the buckle. I haven’t had the opportunity to use this bag yet, I hope it works and since it is bigger than I thought, maybe it will work. It is probably better suited for the males versus females.

Straps Are Too Close Together
The straps don't lie flat on your shoulders, because they're sewn too close together and don't curve to make room for your neck. Such a disappointment because the rest of the bag is perfect!

Measured between seams when fully extended, the height is 18.5 not 20"; the width is 12.5 not 14"; and the maximum depth, at the bottom, is 9 not 10" (the pack is not as deep at the top as at the bottom). The weight is a couple of ounces heavier which is less significant. The pack will be adequate for my purposes but I would have appreciated having the extra space indicated by the advertised size.
