Poor Quality / Shoulder Strap Broke After One Week
Back in 2019, I purchased a High Sierra 75L Appalachian pack that lasted me 5 years. When I needed a small repair, High Sierra agreed to replace it instead, which I was grateful for. They replaced it with this Pathway 2.0 75L pack that you see here. When I received it, I was struck with the massive decrease in quality from their previous packs. The stitches were less in number and looked thin, the straps were thinner, and the overall quality looked cheap. But since I had such a good experience with my previous pack and the warranty team was so helpful, I used it hoping my suspicions would be proved wrong. However, after only 6 nights of use on the trail and being well cared for, the single stitch that holds the shoulder harness to the pack ripped off while on a backpacking trip! Looking at the damage, I am stunned that such an essential part of the gear was held together with a single stitch on a thin piece of fabric. Be careful buying this pack if you intend to use it for any serious back-country backpacking.

Built For Comfort, Not Trails
I bought this to take into the "high Sierras," namely a rock climb called the Obelisk. I still have not gone, but I can tell you, this pack would not have made it very easy. Out of the box, the first thing I thought was what an attractive design. I chose the icy blue/gray combo of colors and it was hard not to like. The pockets were also nice and it would allow for solid organization. I only loaded 25 lbs of gear and put it on, and immediately I could tell this pack was not designed for the serious backpacker. There's not much mention in the description of its use, but I would assume this is meant for the "Eurorail" or some sort of gentle endeavor as the waist belt is way to spongy to hold serious weight. Overall, this is a devent pack, and may especially excel if you are only using it as luggage (High Sierra is under the Samsonite umbrella). However, if you plan to haul some serious gear, or are planning to spend a week on the trail, look for other packs.
