This is my second pair of hillsound trail crampons. I was gifted my first pair over 10 years ago! I only recently noticed this past winter that the spikes were finally starting dull, as I was noticing a little more slippage. I was thrilled to purchase a second pair and Can’t wait for this years first snow fall to break them out! I also plan to keep my old pair as backups for when it’s a little more ice/rock and I want to keep my new ones fresh and sharp. Work Great!
Worked great so far on my first trip in pretty mixed conditions. 10-20 degree slope, pockets of powder and patches of ice, and some slushy sno-cat tracks to start. A few feet on gravel/rocks. A little ice ball buildup in them in one point, but never lost traction. They're probably exactly what I need.. mixed steep snow/ice but not technical mountaineering.
