Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Boot I install billboard copies for a living. Thus, I am climbing metal and wooden structures all day. I needed a boot that is both flexible and supportive. Straight out of the box, this boot was ready to work -- no break-in needed. I have had this pair for a little more than a year and the only thing worn down on the boots is the soles. The metal structures I climb are hard on soles. Anyways, here in a few months I will purchase 2 more pair (in case Irish Setter stops manufacturing them). Another positive attribute is that the boot is completely water proof -- major plus. I recommend this boot for climbing billboard structures, hunting and hiking.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I just got these today and I figured I might as well break them in sooner rather than later. I chose a steep trail that heads to a ridge. I wasn't 30 minutes into the hike and I had to turn around because the heel was digging in so much. Right now my heels are raw and I'm looking for another boot to go with. I recommend trying them on and walking up stairs and/or a steep hill before buying them to see if you have this problem, because I noticed it the second I started hiking but figured it would go away - it didn't. I should mention that I would've tried them on but stores near me didn't have 14 wide so I had to hope for the best and get them online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Quality , Fit and Performance I have 4 pairs of high quality leather boots; LL Bean Cresta Hiking, Danner Officer Leather Boots, Chippewa upland boots and now Red Wing 361 Elk Tracker. The Elk Tracker was made in Vietnam but the quality is outstanding. The fit was a problem at first but with a little Lexol and 20 hours of wear the the leather softened and now they fit perfect. Be patient with the fit. The boots are not too heavy and with thick socks I think I can be comfortable down to 30F. All the boots are a little different but remember if the leather boots fit in the store they are a half size too big. Just make sure the length is ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome boot i have had my current pair for over 4 years, and only now has some of the stitching started to come apart, no other pair of boots i have owned had lasted this long, and i wear boots out in usually a year or less, and then they are falling apart. I have worn these and worked them constantly. I am going to get another pair eventually, but mine are still holding up. only issue i have had is they dont get very good traction on wet tile, but that doesnt bother me. I had to get new insoles after about two years, but thats normal. i highly recommend these boots either as hunting boots or use as work boots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Design Flaw in 10inch boots I purchased Elk Tracker 861's. Unfortunately the first locking lace from the bottom (on all 10 inch models) lays directly over the seam at the ankle, forcing the seam to break inward toward your ankle causing a pressure point. There is no way to reverse this by breaking the boot in, as the pressure from the lace will always force the seam inward. Other reviews have encountered the same issue. I was disappointed to have to return these boots as the quality and finish were top notch, but I plan to wear them 40+ hours a week so comfort is a must.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointment! I really wanted to like these boots, but poor design forced me to return them. First the upper was small for me and I do not have large legs/calves. Even worse was the seam located under the locking laces, no matter how loose I laced these boots that seam and the bump it creates ate my upper ankle up...very painful whether sitting or walking. I hope someone at Irish Setter reads this and will work to correct these problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good all around boot that works! I have small heels and wide across the front of my foot but these seem to fit OK. In fact I am surprised at the room I have for my toes which is a big selling point for me. But, they do seem to run small so figure on going up a half size and if you use an orthotic foot bed you might want to go up another half size. (Red wing makes some good ones.) The quality seems to be there - I can't find anything wrong - and they are so darned comfortable and stable especially going downhill. And they do grip - way better than a lot of others. Going up a steep slope the cushion seemed to slow me down a little, but, I'm willing to put up with that to gain the overall comfort and stability. I have about 25 miles in them and break in was very easy. There are a lot of extras that I think make them a decent value for the price even if they are made in Viet Nam. That bothers me but everything seems that to be way so I'm not sure what Irish Setter can do about it. Yes, I do recommend them.
