Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Pike in the weeds I took about 20 Johnson Silver minnows to Family Lake in Manitoba in June. I also took a full tackle box of very other conceivable lure. I used, and caught fish, on Silver Minnows. It is by far the easiest bait to fish in the weeds, and caught lots of big fish. My personal best on this trip was a 42 1/2" monster pike. I'm heading back to the same place in two weeks, and restocked with more Silver Minnows.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best ever for any fish After my grand father passed i was lucky enough to get his tackle box.. i always remember him using the silver minnow and showing us up on anything we fished for.. luckily they both where in the box still... needless to say that spring i went out walleye fishing.. wasn't catching nothing off night crawlers so decided to use the old silver minnow.. not really wanting to because of keep sack purposes.. well within 5 minutes i had landed a 12 pound and a 6 pounder.. thanks gramps.. needless to say i purchased my own and hung up the 2 i got from him.. Rated 5 out of 5 by from These things are awesome I had to twist the guides arm off to get him to tie one on then he was floored by how many fish I was catching on them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For Redfish on Grass Beds I've been catching Monster Marsh Redfish sightfishing a Johnson Silver Minnow in Gold for 25 years. Year after year it out fishes every other bait in my box. Set it up on a med-heavy rod with 30 lb Spiderwire tied to a small barrel swivel, then about a 1" flouro-carbon leader 15-20lb test, the faster the retrieve ratio on your reel the better. I use a Penn Fierce 3000 with a fast retrieve. A small trailer works well on it sometimes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great weedless spoon I've been fishing fresh and salt water with the Johnson's Minnow spoon for over 60 years and find them perfect for fishing the grassy flats, weeds and pads for nearly all fish. I always hook on a plastic grub or pork rind strip as I believe that enhances the effectiveness. Some times I'll cast onto a pad and wiggle it off, or let it settle on the bottom, then retrieve with a small jerk similar to fishing a plastic worm. It casts easily so 1/4 oz. is good for most spinning outfits, while 1/2 oz. works best with a casting rod. For me, silver has been the best all around, but I'm trying out colors too, especially for salt water. If I had to fish just one spoon this would be it because of it's versatility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A true weedless lure I have used the Johnson minnows for more than 60 years and have never found any bait that is more weedless. I bought several of the largest size and have been catching big Muskies in the thick cabbage weeds. The color that I like best is GOLD. I am a Musky Guide and have my clients use the big Johnson minnows in the weeds and lily pads. They are surprised and shocked that Muskies hit these baits and that they can fish the heavy cover with no snags. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep it secret, keep it safe. Most people think of spoons as a thing of the past, old-fashioned, out of date. Let 'em. The less people that fish with Johnson's Silver Minnow, the more fish for me.
