Nice Shoes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great looking shoes but unfortunately my foot has been in a cast so haven’t had a chance to wear them. At least one shoe fits great

Lacks Cushion
I tried this Keen hiking boot because it was slightly more stylish than the Salomon X Ultra. However, the cushioning is lacking. The feel of the shoe doesn’t align with the appearance of a sneaker-inspired hiking boot. It felt like stepping into a bowl instead of a cushioned footbed. I tried different insoles, but the issue persisted. I attribute this to poor design.

My Favorite Keen Boot For Daily Wear.
I had previously reviewed the Targhee III as my favorite Keen boot, and it was until I bought the Hightrail boot at REI. The Keen Hightrail Hiking boot is my new favorite daily Keen boot. I've owned the Targhee, II, III, and IV. For me the Hightrail is the most comfortable and best fitting out of all of them for daily wear. I need a boot that's versatile in the fall, winter, and spring and can go from walking the dogs on concrete sidewalks, to the office, and light to moderate hiking. All in various weather like rain and snow. And the Hightrail is perfect for that. It's very lightweight and incredibly comfortable, almost like a running shoe. Very similar to my Keen Versicore Speed shoes that I wear in the summer. The toebox is slimmer than the Targhee so I had to go with a wide size to get the same roomy toebox. I wanted the Dark Earth/Oak Buff color but the only color available in wide is Brindle/Oak Buff. It's a nice neutral color so I'm happy with it. The traction seems great so far and I can walk the dogs on concrete sidewalks for miles without any foot or shin pain issues like I had with the Targhee's due to their harder outsole. Which is great for hiking and backpacking, but not urban environments. That's where the Hightrail shines. Overall, the Hightrail is a great all-around hiking boot that I wear every day in the fall/winter/spring.

Keen Is Not What They Used To Be
Ok so for this boot in particular, the foam developed a ridge in the midsole. I initially thought it was the insert, but it was the foam midsole. super annoying since it only lasted less then 1 months and an estimated 100 miles. Now as for Keen as a whole the quality control has become an issue with me. This is the second pair of Keen boots that I've purchased in as many years to fail.
