Great Water Shoe.

Grip on watery surfaces was second to none for things like kayaking, tidepooling, river exploration. The wide footbed makes them comfortable all day. My pair lasted 2 years. Fail point (same as my first pair of keens) was the rear side supports ripping out from under the heal. Salt water does seem to break down the glue. These had a tighter fitting neoprene that I preferred as it performed better in water but did make them slightly more challenging to put on and take off. Compared to Chacos the keens have superior grip on wet surfaces, and are lighter weight and overall better for walking. . . but in my experience they don't hold up as well past 1. 5 years. I would suggest extending the side supports under the shoe and sewing them together so force is spread out and they don't rip through.

Poor Grip

Grip is poor on this series. Caused me to slip on rocks many times. Isn't that the point of these sandals, to walk in the water? Also after one season they are falling apart. I've had much better luck with other Keene sandals.

Treasure Hunting Must-have

Bought these for water/beach metal detecting. The toe protection is great. Excellent grip. They easily clear sand and debris from the footbed. Break in period was quick. These are easily the best water detecting shoe I’ve found. I’ve recommended them to every detecting forum I’m a part of. If you’re a metal detector- you need these for the beach.

Good Sandal

Only wore them out once and have been wearing them around the house to break them in, but they seem to fit nicely. Can’t wait to use them on the river. Will do a follow up your view.

Never Disappoints

Once again, I'm pleased with my latest Keen purchase. The look and fit are great. Whether I've chosen sandals or hiking shoes, the sizing is consistent. Keen is my favorite footwear.

Great Quality And Comford

This is my second pair and they are just as comfortable and ready for another 10+ years of abuse as the first pair.

Best Out There!

It seems that I have wasted a lifetime looking for the perfect water sandal (looking at you Chaco and you Teva) but here it is. All others have found their way to the trash now that the SOLR is on board.

Best Shoes I’ve Owned For Water

These are the best shoes I’ve ever owned. Sadly I can’t find my size or the olive/taupe color scheme I love anywhere. I’ve had my pair for about 4 years and use them often to hike along wet slippery rocks looking for arrowheads as well as walk in the water with them. They dry quickly and grip well and would love to get another pair just like the ones I have. The heel on the right one is starting to go out after years of use and abuse. Well made shoes that perform better than advertised.

Great Sandal For Trail And Water

Excellent sandal. great fit and solid traction on the trail or in the water. Offers a little more protection of of the foot as compared to the Newport sandal.

Comments

Had to return 1st pair. Sandals run small. Ordered one full size larger and sandals fits great. The return process was easy. Ordering a new pair of sandals today for my son.

Men's Solr Sandals, Size 13

I really like these sandals. The fit and finish is perfect. The toe and side protection is real good. I wear these sandals at the boat ramp launching my boat and they have good grip on the wet concrete and dry fast when wet. EZ on and off, wet or dry. My feet are protected and comfortable...Bravo KEEN.

Perfect Fit

I get toe protection while enjoying the open air sides and back.

Good For Summer Sailing

My son has been wearing these for sailing dinghy’s this summer. They have been great for that and also running around when on land. He’s finding them very comfortable.

Best Sandals

Best sandals hands down for the beach, sand bars, boating, kayaking!!!! If you’re an outdoorsman……. These sandals are a must have!!!!

Great Sandal For Fly Fishing

Overall this was a fantastic sandal - used for the first time on 2-day backpacking/fly fishing trip. Sandal did great with ejecting fine sediment and pebbles unless they got stuck up at the front underneath the toes. I did have blisters start to show up on the second day right below the outside ankle bone, but I think they will break in and this won’t be an issue forever. One note about the grip on wet rocks - in my experience there is no rubber outsole that exists that will be truly grippy compared to felt bottoms. These sandals do an ok job at gripping wet rocks but you definitely can’t trust them fully. Fantastic grip on dry rocks and other surfaces. The protective toe does help tremendously compared to chacos when you do slip into rocks in the stream bed and bump the front of the sandal. Ultimately these are a great option and lightweight and comfortable (aside from blisters which will hopefully resolve over time), but they are not the grippiest option out there for wet wading in streams. Would love to see Keen develop a rubber/felt sandal just like this one targeted for fly fishing. Korkers is the only other brand making felt bottom sandals but I think Keen could do it better. Also - I would recommend buying a half size bigger.
