Great Value

My son bought this pole for local pond/ small fish fishing. He chose it because it beaks in half for easier transport. He has already caught. A bunch of fish on it and is really enjoying it. We got it on sale, so for the money, you can’t beat the value.

Good Starting Combo

The Lew's American Hero combo offers an inexpensive starting rig for about any age. Everything is pretty much okay except the feeble monofilament line may be only sufficient for the simplest fishing outing (such as dropping a line off a boat). If you need to cast - and experiencing line hang-ups or tangles - you will need to remove about 30 yards of lead until there is 1/16" - 1/8" margin on the spool (described in Dick's spooling video). If there are still problems (such as I had) you can respool the reel with a quality braided line, and that should take care of it. I used 20 lb test since it doesn't matter to go a little over the specs., the braking system (drag adjuster) should govern the spec limits.
