It’s Great, Once It’s Been Built

We bought the pump adjust system for my son’s birthday a month and a half ago. He enjoys it, but adults be prepared for a lengthy assembly process. It takes a strong adult and another helper (or two for certain steps). The pole cap was the wrong size so we had to have the company send the correct one. They were very prompt at replacing the part. We would never have figured out the instructions had it not been for the video. (I may never get that background music out of my head.) We only had to make one trip to the hardware store to get a correctly fitting bit for the ratchet for one of the steps, but what project doesn’t require buying a new tool? Overall, a good product that seems like it will truly last a lifetime.

Nice Hoop But Assembly Is Rough

When I bought this, I thought the name Lifetime was an adjective to describe how long the hoop would last. Come to find out, it’s a great description of how long it takes to assemble. Nice when finished but complete nightmare to put together with terrible instructions and poorly labeled hardware.

Great Basketball Hoop

The basketball hoop took about 4.5 hours to put together with just one person for most of it. The directions were fairly straightforward and the video of it being put together helped too to get a visual of it. I struggled to find the right spot to get the short extension arm to line up with the main support bar, but keep playing around with it and you’ll find the spot in 4.5. Bolt DIH in step 5.2 had a hex head despite the instructions showing a rounded Allen head, which led me to believe I was missing a bolt. Bolt DYX in step 5.4 was too large to fit through the holes in part CKM no matter how I tried and I ended up drilling out the hole a bit more. Other than that it was fairly straightforward and I had no extra parts at the end. I ended up using a milk carton with the bottom cut off to dump the sand in and also only put 250 pounds in the base with another 120 in bags on the top to make it easier to move the hoop. Good luck with your hoop as it is made pretty well and is quite sturdy

We bought the system five years ago and it has been reliable every day. Unfortunately, an unusual weather event occurred where wind gusts got up to 80mi/hr. Even with the height at its lowest, it blew over (base was completely filled). The backboard cracked. Customer service was prompt and sent us a new backboard very quickly!

I bought for Christmas and it was completely disorganized. I’m very good at putting things together but the bolts and nuts wouldn’t thread. It needed tools I don’t have. Nothing included. Total joke. They want you to have to call one of their people to professionally assemble. Disappointed overall. The instructions were mislabel. Dicks was also bad with the shipping. Couldn’t pick it up. Charged $100.for shipping. Arrived in damaged box.

Pretty Good Quality Hoop For The Price, Not Too Difficult To Setup.

Bought this hoop and despite it arriving about 9 days after the date it was supposed to arrive, thus missing my son's birthday, it's pretty good quality. Was told the delay was because of an issue with the manufacturer but I was never notified nor was the tracking updated to show the delay. I had to call after the arrival date passed and I didn't receive it to inquire what was going on. Set up wasn't as difficult as I expected. It took me about 6 hours total over two days and I set it up by myself without any issues. Definitely were a couple steps it would have been easier with a 2nd person though. Labeling of parts, hardware, and bags of parts to use per each step could be a little better. Had one set of washers that were too small but otherwise no other problems. Quality is not great but pretty good. Maybe it's expected that a portable hoop would shake a little more than a hoop installed into the ground. Rim also shakes a bit as well but tried and can't figure out how to tighten it to be a little more firm. Overall I would recommend this hoop for the price. Maybe my case was an anomaly but might want to be sure and allow extra time in delivery.

Good product, but I don't recommend buying the warranty. It was suggested to us to buy it, but the reasons provided weren't actually covered when we had an issue. Don't make the mistake we made.

Exceptional Customer Service

I have a Lifetime Adjustable Portable Basketball Hoop (54-Inch Acrylic), Model No 90487, Product ID 1609212. It is very very difficult to raise and lower the net/backboard. I think the Gas Spring needs to be replaced. When I removed the Gas Spring I was able to raise and lower the net/backboard although it took some physical effort. Also, the net/backboard came down telling me it needs the Gas Spring for stability. I talked to my son and he related that when the net was new it raised and lowered just fine. I think I may need to order a new Gas Spring AKF. I think, though, that I can reuse the Gas Spring Cover AKG and just swap it out. Let me know if this is correct about the Gas Spring Cover. Send me the price and tell me how to go about getting this shipped to me. Heidi, Customer Service Representative emailed me back very shortly afterwards and wrote: I can send you a replacement gas spring at no cost as a courtesy.
