Product Information:

The Limited Edition Schwinn Grey Ghost Bike will bring back a sense of nostalgia to those summer days in the 70’s biking around town. Replicating the 1968 Classic Schwinn Bike, the Grey Ghost features a steel Sting Ray frame, high-rise ape handlebars, a banana seat, and a rear sissy bar. The 16” front wheel and 20” rear wheel stay true to the retro and vintage vibe, while providing a fun and one-of-a-kind ride.

Please Note: The inner/outer carton numbers do not reflect the limited edition numbers on the bike and limited edition Sting Ray envelope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Free Shipping! Love my repro schwinn. Since Chicago schwinn couldn't make my bucket list bike in 2018. Was thrilled to be able to purchase this repro. (A couple of nuts and bolts were loose in the box that I found for the bottom seat post connections) but overall a excellent quality bike. Felt like a kid again.. At 59 years old.. Thanks. Dicks sporting goods will assemble this free after I bought online.. No problems.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Houston We Have A Problem Received the bike, unpacked it and the front fender was zip tied to the rear rim and was jammed up under the rear fender scratching the front fender all up(Rim must have moved during the initial packaging and/or shipping). When I assembled the bike I noticed that every bearing on it (crank, fork & both rims) was over tightened so tight that it was binding (I guess they must just buzz them together with an impact at the factory). Make sure you check/adjust bearings before riding. If you cannot find the sissybar mounting hardware the bolts for mine (minus the nuts) were finally found just rattling around in the bottom of the bike box (I don’t know why they didn’t put them in the box with the other small parts for the bike). Assembled the bike & went to stand it up and... the kickstand was too long and the bike wanted to fall over. I called Schwinn Customer Service (For those needing parts their phone number is easy to find online: Just have your model number & build date ready) and they sent another kickstand & fender right out under warranty. Several days go by & the warranty parts arrived from Schwinn. Upon inspection it seems the kickstand wasn’t too long just bent at the wrong angles at the factory. But there was a problem: The integrated sprague kickstand on these requires a special tool to install & Bike Tech at Dicks here in Houston didn’t have one. I had to call around to local bike shops & I finally found one to get the “good” stand installed. Dicks Customer Service & the Dicks local Store Manager were very nice/helpfull through all this and did give me some money back to pay for getting the part installed and for all my hassle. A few observations… The banana seat on these doesn’t have the front metal bushing washers at the front seat post clamp or the nylon bushings for the thru bolts at the sissy bar (Like the orig or the other repops Schwinn has made over the years) so the seat on mine squeaked awfully when riding. I added nylon bushings on the 2 rear seat mounting holes & added 2 flat metal washers & 2 flat nylon washers between the seat and the front seat post clamp that I had laying around to remedy this. Not sure why Schwinn would cut corners on such inexspensive items because without them the front seat bracket will fatigue and eventually crack/break off where it attaches to the seat pan. Front springer on mine was rattling when I would hit a bump while riding. The rubber bushing that comes with the bike is a poor fit to both the bolt & the cup washer allowing the bushing to move and the washer to rattle. Thankfully I had another rubber bushing laying around that fit both the washer & bolt snug. Fenders on these are polished stainless and rims are polished aluminium which doesn’t quite have the look of chrome but at least wont rust. I am not sure why they painted the chainguards white on these as it just doesn’t look right, in my opinion, when the rest of the bike is painted silver. Also, not sure why these would have a “Schwinn Quality Chicago” decal on the seat post tube as Schwinn has had nothing to do with Chicago for years. Bike rides smooth and has a good solid feel to it (Actually all my Schwinn bikes do: Even the “low end” Black Friday Krate!).
