Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maybe i don't know what I'm doing but... I bought it back in November, installed in January. The sonar is great but, the GPS sucks or I'm doing something wrong. It will be working perfect, than as I"m cruising to a wave point, the boat will just stay in the same place on the screen, as if not picking up the satellite signals. . I' pretty sure its the internal antenna. I have it below a hardtop and under the controls. However, other times it works great. Will probably get another antenna for my old Lowrance 18 lcx and just use it as a gps, but I'm not happy with the hook 7 Gps and that was why I bought it instead of another antenna. Whatever, am really happy with the sonar side.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value Dependable Performance The Lowrance Hook series was my choice for my fishing electronics purchase. Researched them all and talked to dozens of fisherman before choosing Lowerance. I Bought the ice transducer and fitted it for ice fishing as well.for Ice fishing flasher mode response time is too slow and not useful but bottom lock is very useful. I fish Lake Huron and the St. Clair River in Michigan for walleye and perch and Lake Simcoe Ontario and Lake St. Clair in Michigan in the winter. The Hook series a good product. I like it enough to upgrade to the HDS Carbon series for side scan and processing speed as soon as I can afford to. My advice is go with Lowrance, a proven product, and get the most processing speed and screen size you can afford.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome and best piece of equiptment for your boat I bought the Hook2 7 triple shot and love every minute of its use I give this item 5 stars. I give this item 5 STARS. The installation was very easy and plug and play as advertised. The only tricky part after watching all the videos is making sure you have the transducer lined up correctly with the bottom of your boat not to deep and not to shallow. After mounting the way the video tells you to I lost contact with the bottom after 12-15 mph once I got it adjusted at 38mph (top speed of my boat) awesome picture of bottom. Best position is the transducer in line with bottom of boat and half way up the transducer on the molding line that is on the transducer photos below. If your too high you may not get a good picture, if your too low you may loose contact with bottom while on pad or going faster than 20 mph. Once you have it positioned correctly your side scan image will be perfect. Sonar and down scan crystal clear. Its so good you can see your jig and swim bait going by the back of the boat. Did I say It truly is plug and play, as advertised? You can adjust your screens add pages move your screens around with ease and you don't need to be a guru of fish finders to do it its simple and easy. I set my side scan to manual 80 feet and I can tell you a rock on the bottom or a fish suspended. I now see the underwater structures and stumps that I could only see when the water was low or they sucked the water out of river, there is no longer a guessing game, and there is so much more that I never knew was there. I would recommend this product for the everyday fisherman weekend angler, its very affordable and the mounting bracket is easy on and off. I put mine on the 1inch RAM mount, and the base of the unit fits perfectly in the holes provided. I did that so so I can swivel it forwards to see structure, I can't say enough good things about it The only drawback to buying one is I had to travel to the bass pro shop if i wanted it today, and not 4-5 days from now. on second thought there was not bad or drawbacks to buying a new HOOK2 7 triple shot I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. proper mounting of the transducer photos below

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mounting Your Transducer I own a Stratos Fish and Ski with a 150 hp Johnson motor. I bought the Hook 2 to mount on my console so that I could read the depth as I was on plane running down the lake. I tried mounting the split shot transducer on 2 locations on the transom (one spot at the lowest part of the boat behind the motor and the 2nd spot further up on the side of the transom). Both locations caused me to lose the signal when I was on plane and full running. It wasn't until I mounted the transducer inside the hull that I was able to maintain a depth signal while on plane, so if this is what you desire, mount the transducer inside the hull and don't waste time trying to make it work on the transom.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Struggled to make this unit work I bought the Hook2 unit and did not research it enough. You cannot add mapping to it. Without mapping this unit is worthless unless you are in a pond or have another mapping unit. The sonar does not read well. I have been using Lowrance for 50 years and this is the worst unit that I have owned.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hook2 7 OK I really like the unit. The fishfinder is great. I'm going to have to purchase better chart software for my area. I must have misunderstood what US/Canada bundle covered. The map of my area in Delaware is inaccurate and not what I expected. It looks great for driving down the highway but I don't know what good that is on a boat.I have an older Lowrance GPS with factory software on my old boat that is many times better. Live and learn I guess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All I can say is "WOW" I've only had this unit for a short while. I wanted a unit that offered side scan, down scan and color sonar that was easy to use and that wouldn't break the bank. I got exactly what I wanted and then some. This unit also has some of the best built in maps I've seen especially at this price point. Again all I can say is wow!! I wish I could give it six stars for "ease of use"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic price point Mapping is phenomenal, sonar is great as well as the di. Marks fish great, nice clear readings. A little learning curve on navigating through the pages, menus, and settings but once understood very easy to use! It is an amazing unit for the price only regret was not going with triple shot.
