I bought these 6 years ago for outdoor storage. Didn't realize how rusted they'd become until one hook snapped and dropped a 14.5' kayak to the ground :/

Poor Qc On Hardware
Bought two sets today and the included hardware looked identical. One set mounted just fine, but the first two screws I tried broke on the second one. Went to the local home improvement store and bought better hardware with finishing washers (highly recommended since the screw heads stick out otherwise). Other than the shoddy hardware it holds my SOT kayaks just fine. Long story short... Be prepared to spend a few bucks more quality screws/finishing washers.

Mounting Screws Are Junk
Bought same or similar item a couple years back. Hooks work fine although heaviest boat is maybe 55 lbs so they should. Screws, howerver were trash. After first 3 broke we gave up, went to hardware store and bought replacements. First screw we tried with this set broke as well, scrounged up some similar screws we had and used them no problem. Guy who said hardware was missing got lucky, he was saved the step of trying to install with supplied junk screws and got replacements right away, spared frustration.

Simple But Works Well.
Easy to install, sturdy once it is. Can hold a 14.5-foot-80lb. tandem. Depending how low or high you put on your wall, the trick to placing a long and heavy kayak is to slide it from one side to the other, rather than lifting it over the hooks.

Loving The J Hooks!
Was able to easily install into a wall stud and it keeps the kayak off the floor and out of the way. I placed the J hooks high enough that when I want to use the kayak I can just flip the kayak onto the car rack. This eliminates lifting off, down and back up again.
