Okay If You're Only Going A Couple Of Miles

I haven't ever been happy with this because the pole mounting brackets and straps loosen and constantly need to be tightened. I added some ratchet straps when we were driving through crosswinds. If I had not added those, the kayaks would have been blown off the top of the Expedition when we ran into high winds in Kansas. Instead, the front rail of the luggage rack was bent and the rear mounting bracket broke.

Horrible.

Provides little to no stability for kayaks. i would not recommend this product

Poor.

We made it 15 minutes down the road with our new kayak on top and it slipped and fell. Luckily as we were pulling into a parking lot. We had to cram it in my hatch back. Heading straight back to Dick’s to return it. Foam blocks are small, don’t hold. Move all over the place. The bars are slanted making it hard to set the Kyaks straight up, enabling them to slip as it is.

Needed To Carry Two Kayaks!

The Malone Racks worked much better than I expected. The kayaks traveled well for over 300 miles each way without a problem. Wish I found them sooner.

Doesn’t Work Well At Highway Speeds Or Bigger Suvs

The straps included are not very strong and the racks do not hold up well at highway speeds. Made it work with some other adjustments with bungee cords but the foam pads are a pain to deal with. would not recommend for bigger SUVs

Excellent Product

Purchased this product and found it easy to install, worked great in securing Kayak to roof of SUV. Traveled 4 hrs on Hwy no issues Kayak road nicely. Happy to highly recommend this product

Jerry-rigged Contraption, Poorly Engineered, Disposable

When transporting kayaks that are typically valued between several hundred and several thousand dollars, especially with other cars behind you, this rack can’t be trusted. It’s as though they started with the center posts and kept adding bandaid solutions until it worked. The kayaks need to rest on something, so they added foam blocks that resemble packing materials—These will tear, absorb water, and are just one step above disposable. But those will slide away from the center during transport, so they added a blue strap to wrap around both kayaks. Even the logos on the posts are low quality stickers that started peeling after the first week. And the plastic coating on the clamps has already torn after the 2nd week, exposing the bare metal. Here’s a good rule of thumb: Do not buy any roof rack with removable foam blocks as part of the design.

Easy To Assemble.

They function as advertised. Easy to take on and off. I like they are able to fold down.

Fantastic Design

Purchased this about a month ago to transport 2 kayaks on the weekend. I liked that these can be folded down when not in use vs some of the others I looked at. By the 3rd trip my son and I can have the kayaks mounted in about 10 minutes and less to get down. Only advice, which may be obvious, is to make sure the mounting nuts on the bottom side are tight prior to putting the kayaks up there as I find I can get about 3/4 turn in between trips.

Does The Job

I can’t compare to any others, as just got into kayaking. This is all I could find (pandemic and lack of variety in stock everywhere) and bought it. Easy to install, just wish I could compare it to something else I have used. Seems to do the job. Just doesn’t look as sturdy as the J hook setups I see being used by others. Have used it for in town trip to the water with three kayaks, not sure that’d be a good idea for a long trip on the highway.

Very User Friendly!

Used this for the first time 2 weeks ago and worked like a charm! Very easy to use!

Easy Way To Carry Two Kayaks

\ My daughter's SUV had cross bars so the Malone Auto Racks were very easy to use. The directions were simple to follow and by the time she loaded the kayaks at the end of our vacation, she found the process quite easy. We appreciated being able to take both kayaks.

Great!

Super easy to set up with clear instructions. Just have to be careful opening the hatchback on my car since the back rack hits the window every time I pop it open.

Easy To Use, Sturdy

bought these 3 weeks ago to start making kayak trips easier. installed well, easy to use.

Works Well.

The reason I did not give it 5 stars was due to the the foam blocks. They are too squishy. This allows the kayaks to shift a little when you hit a dip or bump as the block squishes more and creates slack in the tie down. I swapped out the foam blocks for pool noodles that I cut to fit my roof rack and the issue was solved. When I was having issues using the provided foam blocks it was with only one or 2 kayaks; which is what the manufacturer recommends. However, with the pool noodles it was easier for me to easily fit more kayaks. I can fit 3 kayaks on my Subaru Crosstrek and 4 on my grand caravan with this stacker by using additional straps. I have been transporting them locally (10-20 min drives) that way with no issues.
